Brian and my mother, Gerrie Hammond, were MLAs together in the 1980s. Mom was a big fan of Brian's and she worked tirelessly on his leadership campaign. Mom died close to 30 years ago. I was going through a box of photos and came across one with Mom, Brian and Charlotte Oleson (MLA for Gladstone, died in 2017), all with big smiles. Despite a lot of work, I remember them having a good time together and great friendships. Just coincidence that I looked up Brian to discover he died a short time ago. Brian was a good guy. - Posted by: Stephen Hammond (Friend) on: May 16, 2020

Hello Bill, We were so very sorry to hear about Brian. It was quite a shock to us, I hope it was not one of those long-drawn-out deaths that are so hard on everyone. You will continue to be in our thoughts at this tragic time. Jim and Elaine May Vancouver Island BC - Posted by: Allan Brian Ransom (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2020

I was a newbie to the Wildlife Branch and already I heard wonderful stories about Brian, his insights, dedication and passion for the resources. The he became a Minister of Resources and still an example of dedication and integrity. Well done, good and faithful (civil) servant! - Posted by: Ross C Thompson (Co-Worker and Friend) on: Mar 04, 2020
