• I met Champ in Winnipeg as I worked with his wife at 2PPCLI. We enjoyed our visits with Fayre and Champ and met them up in Edmonton a couple of times when they visited family there. My husband and I always get a chuckle when we remember Champ bidding us farewell from the Olive Garden. He said 'Kiss Kiss'. It was just so funny. Sad to see him gone. He lived a good life. • Champ was always fun, smiling, laughing and with that mischievous glint in his eye. Lynne was a few years older and Ben several years younger so my two sisters and I always wanted to play with Champ. Excitement ran high when we visited our grandparents in Wawanesa. One afternoon, Champ disappeared for a few hours and was later found asleep under a giant rhubarb leaf. It must have been his only sanctuary. When Champ retired, he and Fayre spent one winter in Tampa where my late sister Ruth and I had a units in a retirement park. I remember Champ's unfailing kindness and generosity to my late husband who was losing his sight but still enjoyed a game of golf. The world is a sadder place without Champ. • I have known Champ my whole life, how blessed I was to call him uncle. He gave the best hugs and had a laugh as big as all outdoors. When I was young, I used to love hearing stories Mom or Gramma told about Champ as a kid and all his crazy adventures - like Gramma attaching an alarm clock to his bike so he'd be home in time for dinner! • I worked with Champ at MB Pool. He always made me laugh. We used to walk together at lunch break and share stories. I had his retirement party at my home, I was so sorry to see him go, the office was never the same. Even though we did not work together for long you made a lasting impression on my life. • I was very troubled to hear of Champ's passing. He was one of a kind and touched the hearts of all folks who had the pleasure to have known him. Champ always met you with a broad smile and a big," Hi There". Laura, now also passed and I were fortunate enough to have been hosted several times by Champ and Fayre in there lovely cottage at the lake. We were neighbours of theirs at our beloved Lochwood's Estates on the lake, north of Gimli. Golf, cards, beach outings and many other fun events were always front and center when the Russenholt's were involved. Champ will be missed, "Big Time" and we extend our sincere sympathy to Fayre and their family. Rest well my friend. • My condolences to the Russenholt family. Ed was an amateur radio operator. Ed's Call sign was "VE4RL." Ed's father was a Short Wave Listener and they both were members of MARM (Manitoba Amateur Radio Museum) located on the grounds of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum, south of Austin, Manitoba. In Amateur Radio Ed is now a SK (Silent Key) a term of respect for a deceased Amateur Radio Operator. The term originated with early telegraph and wireless operators.
