MARY RUSH
April 6, 1922 - February 23, 2020

Comfortably and peacefully Mary passed away, at the age of 97, at St. Boniface Hospital (from Holy Family Nursing Home).
Left to cherish her memory are her son Glen and wife Tracey, granddaughter Ashley and husband Justin, grandson Adam, and great-granddog Blaze.
Mary was predeceased by her husband William (Bill), mother Anne, father George, sister Frances and brother-in-law Harry.
After attending Success Business College, Mary worked as a secretary in the metal recycling industry. Then from the early 1960s, she was a devoted and loving homemaker.
Mary was very independent and strong-willed. She was always on-the-go, watching her son play hockey and daughter-in-law play baseball. While living at the nursing home, she spent many hours going out to watch her granddaughter play ball hockey and grandson play basketball, and watching the Jets and Bombers on TV with the family, all of which she enjoyed very much.
She was a very warm and loving person, and leaves behind many precious memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for all their care and support where Mary was a resident for over the past six years, to Arlington Haus where she was the two years prior, and would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency for all they did in making her comfortable.
Cremation has taken place by Korban Funeral Chapel. A come-casual service will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Bronx Park Community Centre, 720 Henderson Hwy., in the Multi-Purpose Room, with interment to follow at 4:00 p.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 4515 Main St., north of the Perimeter Highway.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holy Family Nursing Home, referencing her name Mary Rush.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So sorry to learn about your Mom's passing. She was the last of that generation for our family & took with her so many memories of the past. Last spoke with her in the late 1990's when I was in Canada after my Mom's passing & visited your Mom & Dad at that time. My deepest sympathy to you & your family. - Posted by: Jovyne Cartwright (Niece) on: May 05, 2020

  • I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Please accept our condolences and may our prayers help comfort you. Sharon and Wayne Solta (Friends) - Posted by: Sharon and Wayne Solta (Friends of Son Glen) on: Mar 04, 2020

  • I knew Mary for the whole duration of her stay at Holy Family on floor 3A. She LOVED her Friday morning bingo games. I would go to her room, rouse her and we would walk together to seat her at her place for bingo. She adored my little dog Yummy who I would bring along. I have a picture of the two of them together that I treasure. I will miss her greatly. - Posted by: Deb Winterburn (Volunteer at Holy Family Home) on: Mar 04, 2020
