JOHN-ALLAN (SULLY) FREESTONE
December 24, 1945 - February 28, 2020
Sully passed away peacefully at home on February 28 2020, surrounded by his family, after a long, hard fought battle against cancer.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Marjorie Freestone (nee Cowan) and Thomas Freestone, as well as his brothers, Dick and Tom Freestone. He will be deeply missed by his three children, Tim Freestone (Heidi), Sarah Evan (Marlon) and Katie Freestone (Kevin), his grandchildren, his sister Elaine Ryan, nephew Colin Ryan (Jenny-Lou), many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends, far and wide.
He was born and raised in Fort Garry, then spent a couple of decades raising his family in Kenora, ON, before returning to Winnipeg. He loved being on Lake of the Woods, spending time with family at camp. There was often a guitar on his lap, and a cold beer within reach. Sully was a dreamer, an eternal optimist who lived in the silver linings of any clouds that crossed his sky.
In his final days with us here on earth, the house was full with family and friends, surrounding him and the rest of the family with love, support, gratitude and stories. Sully made a difference in so many lives, in so many ways, and he will live on in us, forever.
A celebration of his life will be held this spring, date to be determined.

I wish to express condolences to the Family. Sully was a memorable fellow with many talents. I was fortunate to know him & his young Family many years ago whilst living in Keewatin. RIP Sully. - Posted by: Bianka Paszkowska (friend/co-worker) on: Mar 07, 2020

My deepest sympathy to the Freestone family. I have very fond memories of Sully both when we worked together and as a friend. He loved an adventure and it usually involved a boat, Lake of the Woods and sometimes fishing. He was happiest when he was teaching his children, holding them close and laughing with them. Hold on to the special memories. I know I do. Warm thoughts. Judy O'Gorman - Posted by: Judy O'Gorman (Old Kenora friend) on: Mar 07, 2020
