  • I work at the front desk of Dakota House. It was my pleasure to get to know Don. He loved his apartment and the friends he made - he told me that he looked at many places but this was the place that made him feel good. I loved talking to him about his garden, his stamps, his family - he would dig out pictures of his father, his mother and him when he was little and show them off. The odd time you had to do something for him he was so appreciative as he was fiercely independant. I would ask him how he was -- if it was sunny he would say - just like the weather - bright and sunny. There was never a complaint from him. He had a dry sense of humour which would come out on occasion too, ending with his little chuckle. Every night he would take a walk and then stop at the desk and say Well - Good Night! Well- Don, Good Night to you! We miss you every day. - Posted by: Sheila Selluski (Front Desk at Dakota House) on: Oct 06, 2020

  • I corresponded with Don on a variety of topics, and very much enjoyed meeting him at several conventions of the British North America Philatelic Society. He was a quiet, kind, and charming man. - Posted by: Chris Hargreaves (Editor of The Canadian Aerophilatelist) on: May 13, 2020

  • Don was a soft spoken, kind neighbour. In his own quiet way he contributed much to the health of our block. We miss the example this sweet gentleman was to all of us. - Posted by: Beverly Dyck (Neighbour) on: Mar 21, 2020

  • I was shocked and saddened to learn of the recent passing of this great man "Don" Fraser, who was well-liked, softspoken, helpful, active, modest, gentle and kind to all around him at the BNAPS and Winnipeg Philatelic Society gatherings. He will be sorely missed by all his many friends. RIP Don! - Posted by: Axel Olsson (Fellow stamp collector) on: Mar 18, 2020

  • I met Don 16 years ago when I joined the Winnipeg Philatelic Society. It soon became evident that I shared some of the same collecting interests, including long gone towns and rural post offices. I enjoyed challenging Don with a new find and a lost post office name, he would challenge me with the same. - Posted by: Donald Bahuaud (Fellow Winnipeg Philatelic Society Member) on: Mar 12, 2020
