RUI (ROY) MANUEL MONTEIRO
September 14, 1973 - March 1, 2020
Rui is survived by his father, Manuel Coelho Azera Monteiro and fur son, Roco Monteiro (Bellerose). He was predeceased by his mother, Mother Bertha Maria Martins Costa Monteiro.
Rui was born and raised in Winnipeg and spent his summers enjoying the sun and the lake in Whiteshell with his parents. Heading into his career, he got on with Barca Construction, later found an opportunity with JC Construction where he grew his interest in trucking and decided to venture out and become his own Owner/Operator.
Rui was always there for anyone he knew, the best friend anyone could have and protector. Loyalty was the most important thing to him; he would go without to help others and give forgiveness to anyone if you just asked. He loved to be surrounded by and spend time with his friends and wanted everyone to be one big family. He was a big teddy bear who loved everyone and was very grateful for anyone who helped him.
His sudden passing has left a hole in so many people's lives.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. also in the church. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
If you would like to send flowers, please contact Petals Florist at 204-338-7673.

Roy was a kind, caring and loving person. I remember traveling with him when we graduated from high school to Valley City in North Dakota for football, and to decide if this was the school we wanted to attend. I remember Roy showing off his kicking skills and watching the coaches in awe as Roy had a kick like no one I have ever seen. He will truly be missed, and yet live on through the hearts and memories of those who knew and love him. - Posted by: Zoran Vicovac (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2020

Roy was always a great friend. He was always smiling. I'm in shock. We were supposed to meet for coffee. Its tough when you lose a life long friend. My prayers are for his family and friends. Rui is in a better place. No more pain and suffering. Lean on not on your understanding, trust in the one that created us and know one day we will know why. Peace be with us all. Rest in peace my friend. Thanks for all the fun memories and laughs. - Posted by: Dave Schick (Life long friend) on: Mar 10, 2020

I knew Rui since high school. We played on the D line together. He was always there to help out a teammate. Rest In Peace, you are gone too soon. My condolences to Mr and Mrs Monterio - Posted by: Paulo Camilo (Friend and former Sisler Spartan teammate ) on: Mar 08, 2020

We are truly in shock when we read about Roy's passing in Saturday's paper!! Was just talking to him about 3 weeks ago & even tho' he had a number of obstacles ahead of him..he seemed determined to overcome them. Such a shame..for so many reasons... The only comfort any of us can take, is that he is with his Mom Bertha again..whom he loved & adored & was always there for him...as he was for her. We extend our deepest Sympathy to all who knew Roy, for the special person he was... Rest in Peace Roy..You will be missed.. Carol & Jim - Posted by: Carol & Jim (Friends) on: Mar 08, 2020

One of the most kindest people I have ever met. He would do anything for his friends. I am sorry that you had to leave us but I understand it's God's plan and your suffering was enough. Thank you for the phone calls and friendship bro! Until we meet again! 🙏 - Posted by: Gabriel Santos (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2020

So hard for me to believe that you're gone, there has been years she'd this past week. I will miss our banter back and forth while watching Jets/ Bruins game, playing yahtzee, and our late night talks. You were always my protector at the villa, and my shoulder to cry on. I will miss you everyday my friend, until we meet again ❤ - Posted by: Nikki Stoughton (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2020
