AUDREY MAE DOBSON
(nee WIGHT)
November 15, 1942 – February 29, 2020

Our beloved Audrey passed away peacefully last Saturday (77 years old) at Riverview Health Center with family at her side. She had been admitted the prior Sunday after a three year courageous battle with cancer.
Audrey, the middle of 14 children, was born to Harriet and Eunice Wight in Rocky Harbour, Nfld. She was predeceased by her mother; father; and sister Mae. She is survived by her loving husband George; sons Robert (Cindy) and Brian; grandchildren, Kaylee, Caden, George; siblings, Lucy, Minetta (Don), Hubert (Essie), Jean (Henry), Churchill (Barb), Carrie, Linda (Frank), Mona, Myra (Job), Woodrow (Elizabeth), Jim (Marg), Sheila (Alain); sister-in-law Judy (Harold); plus numerous cousins;, nieces; and nephews.
We met November, 1967, in Corner Brook Nfld., were married the following November and recently celebrated our 51st Anniversary. We moved to Labrador City in 1971, then back to my home province in November 1974. Both our boys were born during transfers; the latter necessitated by my diagnosis with MS. Audrey was the rock which held our family together during these difficult but loving times.
Audrey was happiest when around family and thrived on hard work. We were a team; whether it was ripping stucco off our house, re-stuccoing it and a new garage, trenching around the house/repairing the foundation, helping neighbors, tending her numerous flower gardens, knee deep in snow shoveling/snow blowing or hiking through the woods. She could not sit and watch TV without doing something with her hands, be it needle point or her passion, quilting. She made dozens of quilts over the years donating most to the Lynus Project, Childrens Hospital and palliative care areas.
We wish to thank Drs. Dean and Popowich, staff and volunteers at CancerCare, Dr. Heather Frame, our good friend Dr. Garnett Crawford who went above and beyond and Dr. McClure and caring staff at Riverview Centre during her last week.
We miss you deeply my love and you will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts.
Cremation has taken place and no service will be held per Audrey's request. A family remembrance will be held here later in the spring with a family service following in Rocky Harbour in August.
If desired, a donation in Audrey's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
