It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a husband and dedicated father, Stephen Lee Bellinger, on February 29, 2020; Steve fought a hard battle with cancer and was a trooper right to the end, passing away peacefully surrounded by his family.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Darlene; children, Sheena, Ian, Malcolm (Kimmy), Victoria (Casey), Elizabeth (Romeo), Amelia (Kenneth) and Alan; grandchildren, Signy, Alexis, Atticus, Caitlin and Elia; sister Lesley (Bruce); nieces, Sarah and Julia; sister-in-law Lee (John), Stanley and Teresa; cousins, Norma and Eleanor; and many more. Predeceased by his parents, Victor and Ina (nee Sturgeon).
Steve was born during turbulent times in Hertfordshire England on July 13, 1943. The son of a military family, Steve was raised in Scotland, Ireland, Malta and parts of Africa. Steve immigrated to Canada in 1962 and joined the army's airborne regiment at Shilo, MB to be a paratrooper. He met the love of his life Darlene and they married on April 10, 1965. Spending over 55 years together, Steve and Darlene proudly raised a family of seven children in Winnipeg, MB.
Steve's favourite occupation was long haul trucking throughout North America often with his co-pilot by his side. Landing in Kelowna in 2000, the golden years were spent in an idyllic location. Still very young at heart, Steve marvelled at the beauty of the Okanagan and played host and tour guide to many. Steve made a lasting impression on everyone and influenced many more than just his own.
Steve's cremated remains will be interred in Kelowna, BC in July 2020 with a Celebration of Life to follow.

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Steven. I was just talking to my husband about some of our family history, and out of the blue searched for Steven and you. I remember visiting Ina, his mother and father and Leslie, his sister in Edinburgh, when his father returned from Overseas duty. Leslie and I became friends when we were both studying in Edinburgh. Steven immigrated to Canada and we were not in touch, until I immigrated to Canada. I remember visiting Steven and Darlene and their lovely family in March of 1974 in Winnipeg. Darlene , I am so sorry we lost touch, I wish you all the best and know I treasure the memories of meeting you, even for such a short time. Please accept our condolences. My heart goes out to each and every one of Steve's children and to Darlene. I'm so sorry, your loss is tremendous. Steve was such a huge presence in the lives of so many and was loved by many. He will be missed greatly. Steve and Darlene opened their home and hearts to so many of us "other kids" . No matter where your life took you, you always knew there was a safe space for you at 1118 Copeland. Steve always made you feel welcomed and could be found offering sage words of wisdom ... and loud enough that you'd hear it even if you didnt want to listen. I'm so thankful for those words, those memories, for Steve and all the Bellingers. You are family to me. My deepest Condolences go out to you all. - Posted by: Karen (My bestfriends Dad) on: Mar 08, 2020
