DONALD JOHN WILLMS
December 27, 1931 - December 29, 2019
Don was the first child to George and Kathrina "Tina" (nee Bergman) Willms. He was born at home in the Municipality of Whitehead, Manitoba, where the family farmed wheat and raised pigs and milking cows. His father was born in the village of Nikolaidorf, in the southern part of Russia. His mother was born in the Kuban Colony, which borders the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
When he was a teenager, he moved with two of his brothers to Winnipeg. He spent most of his career working at Eaton's in the footwear department. He retired after serving for 44 years. He lived with his wife Dorothy first in River Heights then they moved to Windsor Park where they lived for 51 years.
He loved the Winnipeg Jets, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, cars, going for drives around southern Manitoba with his wife and kids, and visiting family.
Don was a good man who exemplified fairness in his dealings with others.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ashwood Manor Retirement Home in London, Ontario where he resided for the last year so he would be close to his daughter, Colleen.
If you so choose, donations could be made to the charity of one's choice.
