It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Aurele, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully at Foyer Valade, surrounded by family.
Aurele is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helene (nee Robidoux); children, Nicole Karpick (David), Johanne Lemoine (Thomas Gulon), Daniel Lemoine (Charlene); grandchildren, Bridgette Brown (Gordon), Curtis Metzler, Dillon Karpick, Carter Gershman, Taylor Lemoine, Ashley Lemoine; and great-grandchild Landon Brown. Aurele is also survived by his sister Colette Prefontaine (Jacques), his brother John Lemoine (Julia), sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Aurele was predeceased by his son Patrick at birth; parents, Cyprienne and Isidore Lemoine; sister Yvette and Paul Boily; in-laws, Augustine and Louis Robidoux; sister-in-law Gracia St. Hilaire; and brother-in-law Pierre Robidoux.
Aurele's work was his passion and his family was his priority. He wore many hats in his life, from being lumber manager in Ste. Agathe and St. Leon, went into real estate with Helene, and finally working for the federal government for 19 years in Winnipeg. He then moved the family to Sundance, Manitoba to work at the Limestone Hydro Dam project for four years. He retired in 2004 and continued working on special projects for the government. Aurele returned to his true passion of carpentry and worked at Rona as a project estimator. His hobbies included coaching his son in hockey and baseball, camping, travelling, home renovations, and making wine and drinking it with his family and friends.
Thank you to all of the staff at Foyer Valade for the compassionate care that Aurele received during his four year stay.
Due to the current public health climate a service will be held at a later date. A secondary notice will be published.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Aurele's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, as well as the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
