ANTONIO (TONI) CALESSO

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Nonno on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the age of 91.
Toni will be missed by his sons, Francesco and Renato (Gina), grandchildren, Kristine, Sara, Christopher, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Maria, brothers, Angelo and Oreste in Winnipeg, and six brothers and sisters in Italy.
Toni was born on January 16, 1929, in Spresiano, Italy to Paolo and Pierina and immigrated to Canada in 1954. In 1956, he called Maria over from Italy and they were married on December 26. For most of his time in Canada Toni worked in construction, first for Prall Construction and later for Orest Construction, until he retired in 1991.
Toni loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing and camping with friends and family. He also loved to take his grandchildren to the zoo to see the animals and made many trips to Calgary to visit his granddaughters. Toni looked forward to his daily walks to Grant Park Mall and meeting his friends at McDonald's for coffee.
The family thanks the staff of the Palliative Care Program for their support over the last few months and the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their help and support in the final days.
The pallbearers are Christopher Calesso, Carlo Furlan, Romeo Furlan, Loris Vendramelli, Mike Vendramelli and Joe Porco.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Toni's memory to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
