KATHERINE KERILESBETH ERHART
(nee KELL)
March 2, 1917 - March 9, 2020
Katherine was born on her parents' homestead near Camper, MB the middle child of five. Katherine, affectionately known as "Kay", excelled academically and was a lifelong learner; she knew the value of hard work and was an excellent homemaker and gardener. Katherine's parents, as well as those of her deceased husband, originally emigrated from the Volga River area in Russia 1910 to 1913. Katherine and her husband raised four children on the original Erhart homestead at Camper, MB and upon their retirement relocated to Nanaimo, BC, where many of her in-laws were already living. Shortly after her husband's passing, Kay then moved to Edmonton, AB to be closer to her "girls".
Katherine was predeceased by her parents, George Adam and Katie Kell (nee Hindergardt), her siblings, Mary Thierstein, Molly Monk, Adam Kell and Frederick Kell; her husband Jack (Jacob); her son Albert; and son-in-law Bill Schultz. She is survived by her three daughters: Gladys Schultz of Sherwood Park, Diane Mang (Ron) and Carolyn Asmundson (Harvey), both of Edmonton, AB; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
The family wish to thank the staff at the GSS for their care over the past five years.
In keeping with Katherine's wishes, there will be no formal funeral. She has requested a small family graveside service at her interment at the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens: 2347 Cedar Road, Cedar, BC (south of Nanaimo). Service to be held TENTATIVELY Monday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
