I am so sorry to hear that Doug had passed away. While working at Seven Oaks Hospital I would frequently see him in the hallways. It seemed that quite frequently I would be leaving at the end of the day and he would be arriving. I would often ask him a neurology question but more often we just stopped and chatted with each other. He had a great laugh and our brief chats always brightened my day. I really miss seeing him and hearing his laugh. My condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Jim Willows (Colleague) on: Jun 06, 2020

Doug was the youngest of the nine Ransby Grandchildren who grew up in the Wildwood Park area amongst the beautiful wilderness, loved and cared for by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Doug was my introduction to babysitting, beautiful blond haired boy. Summers were at Lake Winnipeg or Roses’ Cottages on Sturgen Lake, fishing of course. But life got in the way and all the cousins drifted off to new adventures. I saw Doug for brief chats when I took my children to the Manitoba Clinic. However, I was fortunate to eventually be a patient of Dr. Coates at the St. Boniface Clinic with Dr. Douglas Eggertson in the office beside. My recent memories of Doug were hearing his laughter as I walked past to go to my appointment. I swear the laugh is genetic as I hear it in my eldest daughter’s laughter, loud and joyful rising above everything else. My favourite recent memory was the two of us standing in the hall by his office door remininiscing so loud and full of laughter that the office manager came to see who was creating such a disturbance. It makes me smile, rest well Doug. You are missed. Merryl-Lee - Posted by: Merryl-Lee Gerry Mercier (cousi) on: Mar 27, 2020

I knew Dr. Eggertson peripherally in my health care career, first through paging at HSC then afterwards when he moved his practice to St. Boniface Clinic. He was always a polite, kind man, always offering a friendly greeting or a little joke. The world needs more people like Dr. Eggertson. - Posted by: Judi McFarland (Acquaintance ) on: Mar 21, 2020
