MAUREEN SUSAN JENSEN
February 17, 1962 - March 14, 2020

Tragically, at the age of 58, Maureen Jensen passed away in her home in Calgary on March 14, 2020.
Born on February 17, 1962, in her early life Maureen danced in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet pre-professional ballet program. She later earned a Masters degree in social work, winning a prize for her University of Manitoba thesis on the treatment of sexual abuse in the courts.
Early in her professional career, Maureen was a social worker at Macdonald Youth Services in Winnipeg, at the St. Norbert Foundation and at Stony Mountain Institution. Later, Maureen worked for Autism Calgary and Autism Alberta and was instrumental in launching an employment initiative for adults with autism, now replicated Canada wide. She also established her own consulting firm, Counselling Care, to support families dealing with autism. Maureen brought dignity, meaning and value to the lives of vulnerable people.
But Maureen's pride and joy, her greatest accomplishment in life, was bringing two fine sons, Owen and Aidan Fitzpatrick, into the world and raising them to be strong, honest and caring men. She will be deeply missed by her sons, her mother Nancy Jensen, her two sisters, Patricia Jensen (Don McRae) and Karen Jensen (David Large), and her brother Paul Jensen. She was predeceased by her beloved father Torben Jensen.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Autism Calgary Association at: autismcalgary.com/donate/
Funeral services for Maureen will be held at a later date.

Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca
