ESTANISLAWA (ESTANIS) ANICETO LAGADI

Estanislawa (Estanis) Aniceto Lagadi, passed away, peacefully in her home, at age 95, surrounded by her family, on March 17, 2020. She was predeceased by her sons, George, Junior, and adopted son, Eddie.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Glenda (Farhad), sons, Rene (Thelma), Gerry (Eileen) and Gio (Michelle). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Angelo, Francis (Karen), Ethan, Myles, Meghan, and great-grandson, Ryder.
Estanis was a very successful entrepreneur. In the Philippines she had many different business ventures, buying and selling various goods. When she immigrated to Canada in 1980, she started working in the garment industry to help support her family. When she saved enough money to start a new business, she seized the opportunity to launch a post-psychiatric residential care home. At the age of 60, she acquired all the permits and courses to get the business underway with her business partner, Dr. Amor Hunter. Estanis grew one care home to two separate units with a total of 12 clients. She retired from working at the age of 75 to give all her attention to our growing family.
Estanis enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed chatting with family and close friends, and spending time with her grandchildren. Estanis' many talents include acquiring new languages quickly, balancing the budget, and sewing, cooking, housekeeping, gardening and caring for people of all ages, especially her grandchildren. She had a sharp wit and was quick to put people in their place despite her tiny stature.
The Lagadi family would like to extend their appreciation to her care providers for their compassion and exceptional care. They truly treated our mother like their own during the last few years.
A Celebration of Life will be postponed to a later date due to the restrictions of large group gatherings in effect.
We ask that only close family and friends attend the viewing at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard on Thursday, March 26, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne's Road on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the interment at Glen Lawn Funeral Home.
