MARY HIEBERT
(nee DROZDA)
April 23, 1940 - March 17, 2020
Mary was predeceased by her son Brad, and parents, Nellie and Marion Drozda.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving family: husband Abe; children Shelly (Doug), Melody, Kurt (Shelley) and daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren Kayla, Cassandra, Emily, Matthew, (Addyson, James); sister Katie Chic, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Rembrandt and grew up on the farm with her parents, sister, baba and uncle. She went to Rembrandt and Meleb Schools. She moved to Winnipeg at 17, worked at a sewing factory, then was head clerk providing stock market quotes at James Richardson & Sons. She married Abe in 1961 and they proudly raised their family in Winnipeg. They enjoyed many travel adventures together across Canada, the US, and even one trip to Europe.
Mary will be remembered for her love of children, animals, flowers, gardening, dancing in the kitchen to Ukrainian hour, and fun times with family and friends. Many appreciated her skills in cooking, sewing and crafting. Neighbour kids would stop in for fresh buns after school as they smelled them from the bus. Many would seek her out for her perogies and pickles. She loved to teach grandchildren to tie their shoes, cook, sew, and polka. They always knew Baba could fix anything that needed sewing repair. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Service and Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
