Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I also started at the City the same day as Manuel, Donna, and a few others. I remember Manuel as a fun and funny person. He always had a line of some obscure song at the ready. Although we took different work paths after a few years, I will always remember Manuel. Rest well, my friend. Sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Gerald Kornelsen (former co-worker) on: Apr 05, 2020

  • We met in 1986. We were both hired for the city reassessment and Manuel became my first partner. Being one of the first female assessors and having to go into strange homes Manuel would always be watching out to make sure I came out of each home safe and sound. Being a bit insecure in my new position Manuel always did the driving so That I could take the time to “touch up” my sketches before handing them in. He was a very thoughtful guy in his macho way! We were a close little group and Manuel will always be a part of the great memories we all shared. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Manuel’s family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. - Posted by: Donna Martin (Work associate ) on: Apr 01, 2020

  • Met Manuel in 1986 as we were both new to the Assessment Department. His character was very endearing. Our decision to travel to Portugal in April 1987 was mostly due to working with Manuel as his partner for several months during the City's Reassessment in 1986 and 1987. That one trip started a lifetime of travel and appreciation for other cultures. Thank-you Manuel. I am ever so thankful for his kindness, sense of humour and commitment to doing a good job. Lois and I would like to extend our deeply heartfelt condolences to Ana and your family. Dear friend...I know you're at peace and I shall always remember you. - Posted by: Les and Lois Walterson (Friend from Assessment Department ) on: Apr 01, 2020
