DAVID MERCER

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Mercer on March 15, 2020.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; sons, Shawn (Amanda) and Justin; stepchildren, Josh (Laura), Hugh and Melissa (Ryan); mother Margaret; sister Pauline (Kyle); brothers, Graham (Joan) and Bill; sisters-in-law, Connie, Cheryl, Donna and Joanne (Don); grandchildren, Echo, Gavin, Olivia, Caroline, Braden, Jordan, Michael, Ken, Ashley and Sophia, along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, friends and family too numerous to name.
He was predeceased by his father Fred, and brother John.
David was born in England in 1963. His family returned to Canada when he was four years old and lived in numerous places in Ontario and Manitoba. In August of 2010 he met his wife Debbie and they lived together in Ashern before moving to Ste. Anne, MB. On August 31, 2013, they were married.
Dave spent his life working in the trucking and construction industries. He enjoyed family gatherings and friends sitting around having great conversations while having a beer. He loved going to Jets games and watching TV. His favourite activity, above all else, was "fabricating" the truth and stirring the pot. No one was greater at starting an argument between his brothers then sitting back to watch "the fun", than David was.
Dave loved and lived for his grandkids only wishing he could be closer to the ones that lived in Ontario. The ones that lived close by enjoyed his sense of humour, going for walks that somehow always ended up at the local ice cream shop, they could always get one more candy, one more treat, five more minutes and unlimited games downloaded on his tablet. They were all Grandpa's boy or Grampa's girl. He taught them they could do anything, gently guiding them until they could do it. He was much loved and will be forever in our hearts and souls.
In lieu of flowers, donations / acknowledgement can be sent to MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving), P.O. Box 37008, St. Vital Centre, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M3.
There will be no service at this time, but please join us on July 18, 2020, to celebrate his life and to inter David beside his father and brother in Gimli, MB.
