Together in Winnipeg they raised his family of eight and were blessed with one more child. Mary and John recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. For the last few months Mary was in hospital recuperating from complications of surgery. She fought valiantly through many setbacks but eventually succumbed.
The family thanks the Health Sciences Centre staff on Unit GA3 for their tremendous hard work and advocacy for Mary and her family.
In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place.
In view of current guidelines, a small private family service will be held, with consideration for a public memorial to be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
I grew up in Rosenhof. I looked up to and admired my older cousin Mary. Our family sometimes needed a babysitter and Mary was one of our favourites! We would make a large bowl of popcorn with her and then settle in for story time. Mary told the best stories and I still remember sitting in rapt attention as she told the story of Aladdin and other fairytales. In those days, with few books in our household, our imaginations exploded, with pictures in our minds, as she vividly portrayed the setting and the plot! She was always positive and happy. - Posted by: Alviera Plett (Cousin) on: Apr 03, 2020
Our condolences to the Dyck family. Met Mary when my husband was a patient in HSC. Very obvious that Mary was very well loved by her family and friends that visited her often. - Posted by: Fred and Judy Walder (Room mate in hospital ) on: Mar 30, 2020
