August 27, 1945 - March 27, 2020
Pompea was born in Muro Lucano, Italy, and moved to Winnipeg in 1965. She was predeceased by her husband, Francesco, whom she was married to for 47 years. Pompea and Francesco proudly raised three children: Rosa (Darell), Natalina (Riccardo) and Gerardo (Lorressa). The lights of Pompea's life were her grandchildren, Andrew (Monica), Maria-Antonia, Christina, and Avery, and at the beginning of March, she was overjoyed to meet her first great-grandchild, Mattea. Pompea leaves behind her brother Gerardo (Incoronata), sister-in-law Rosa, sisters in Italy, Rosa and Vita-Maria, and many nieces and nephews.
Pompea was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Maria-Antonia, and her siblings, Guiseppina, Lucia, Antonio and Guiseppe.
Pompea was generous, whether it was buying ice cream for all of the neighbourhood kids or supporting her loved ones. Pompea showed her love through food, especially with her famous pasta and bread balls. A dinner plate was never full enough and it was an insult to leave her house hungry. Pompea helped raise all of her grandchildren, watching over them and spoiling them with treats. She found pleasure in simple things, like a nice perfume, and a perfectly vacuumed carpet (and don't you dare think about walking on it afterwards).
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tunji Fatoye and the endearing care of the team of nurses and aides at Seven Oaks, St. Boniface, and Grace Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Pompea's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
Due to current government legislation, the funeral and entombment will be private. A public memorial service will follow in the coming months.

Pompea was a very gentle and friendly person. I enjoyed conversing with her in her suite and in the hall. She walked occasionally and tried her best to be as healthy as she could. She had a most devoted family. She adored her grandchildren and showed us pictures of the newest addition to the family. She was well liked in our community and we will miss her beautiful smile. - Posted by: Marie Dame (Friend and neighbor) on: Apr 04, 2020

I am so sorry for the loss of Pompea. I have fond memories of her as one of the hockey mom's who took us younger sisters under their wings during countless hours spent in arenas, and I'm thankful for her role in my life in my younger years. My thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: Chantal Jones (Family friend ) on: Mar 31, 2020
