Date of Passing: Mar 27, 2020Offer Condolences or Memory
She was predeceased by her husband and life's love, Raymond in December, 2018.
She is survived by her son Dean and daughter Marnie (whereabouts unknown.)
Stella was born in Swan River, MB. She was the first of her siblings born in Canada after her father emigrated from Ukraine in the early 1930s ahead of Stalin's reign of terror. She was spirited as a girl, often getting up to shenanigans with her brother Smiley (Walter by birth), but with an incredible compassion for the little ones.
Stella moved to Winnipeg from her childhood home of Kamsack, Saskatchewan in the late 50s to pursue a teaching degree. Here a love of curling brought her to her future husband via a chance meeting during a bonspiel.
She chose education as her vocation and went on to an honourable career as a teacher, then a TA, after taking 15 years off to raise her children.
Stella's unbounded selflessness and genuine cheer made her a joy to be around, and her unfailing faith pulled her through many troubled times, including the deaths of six of her siblings in less than a decade. As well, losing her daughter to an unresolvable conflict in the 1990s weighed her heart down every day. Still, she soldiered on and made each day her best. Her spirit will live on in all who knew and remember her.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
Stella was like a grandmother to my 3 sons. She was by far he most generous human being I ever met. Her famous turkey lasagna is engraved on my tastebuds. Her amazing Christmas baking. Her impact on my 3 sons life will never be forgotten. She had amazing spirit while alive so her spirit is going to live on in my heart as a tribute. My eyes are filled with tears upon reading this. I hope she is petting Smoky her cat forever more. Stella I loved you like a mother. My sons always say fond things about her and we will forever. Thanks to your son for the opportunity and blessing to have ever known you. You were beautiful. Kind. Generous. Hilarious. Tiny but powerful. Amazing gardener. Amazing cook. I love you.
