SEYMOUR ROY WOODARD
Born August 4, 1930 in Winnipeg, an only child, Roy grew up in hard times. A childhood illness left his lungs weakened.
Roy worked for many years in radio and TV repairs for Freeman's on Main Street.
Roy was devoted to the love of his life, Viola Olenick, for 28 years until her death in 1999. Her daughter, Anna Larsen of Fort Thomas, Kentucky has fond memories of their relationship. A man of great faith, who read and could quote from his Bible, Roy was a regular Sunday attender at the Health Sciences Centre chapel service where he became a friend of Chaplain Daly de Gagne. At office visits, Roy would tell Dr. Eric Walli exactly how long it had been since her passing.
A frugal man with himself, Roy was unfailingly generous in his relationships with others. He was always a true gentleman. He was a voracious reader and always well informed.
Roy loved working in his yard on Willowpoint Road. It was the envy of his neighbours, including his long time friend, Al Huson.
After falling down his basement stairs five years ago, Roy spent almost a year in hospital, and had to move to Beacon Hill Lodge. Roy will be remembered by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. A service will take place at a later date at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 204-586-7700.
