RAE SHAVER
(nee JENSEN)

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Grandma and GGRae, Rae Shaver on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the age of 85.
Left to cherish Rae's memory are her children, Doug (Debbie), Sheila and Donna (Terry Wowchuk); grandchildren, Cheryl (Rob), Allison (Mike), Denise (Brad), Bradley (Alyssa), Matthew (Sarah) and Christopher (Quinn) and 12 great-grandchildren. Rae is also survived by her dear sister Eva (Joe Laramee); sisters-in-law, Violet Jensen, Shirley Swane and brother-in-law Allan Shaver as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rae was predeceased by her parents; husband Ronald; Sheila's best friend Ron McCasin; her brothers, Verner, Swend and Willie.
Mom was born and raised in Ostenfeld, Manitoba. She married Ronald Shaver on May 26, 1956. While residing in Transcona, a new family was created.
Their love of rural farm life brought them back to the Shaver farm in 1964. Mom was a one of a kind homemaker to us. She was involved in our activities, from school and school sports to 4-H clubs, baseball and numerous other activities. She had love for animals, her dog, cat and the arrival of baby calves each spring.
Shortly after the passing of her husband, the grandchildren began to come along. They were her pride and joy. From baking with the girls to doing yard chores with the boys, they totally enjoyed their time together. Mom loved to bake and there were always cookies in grandma's cookie jar. She watched them grow up to become the adults they are today. Along came the great-grandchildren…."Icing on the cake."
She enjoyed travelling with her sister-in-law Vi on numerous bus trips through the southern USA and a special trip to Hawaii with Sheila.
Anytime we gathered, there would always be time for a few games of Yahtzee. She had a touch for the dice to make the five of a kind frequently and was thrilled to have the grandchildren and great-grandchildren play along.
Mom was an avid curler and golfer with a group of neighbour ladies. She was a true sports fan, loved watching curling, golf, hockey, football and baseball.
Mom was an honorary life time member of the Springfield Agricultural Society.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Concordia Place during Mom's stay of over five years. You made Mom's last few days as comfortable as possible and we thank you.
Mom, Grandma, GG Rae, we will miss you with all our hearts and will cherish our memories of you forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Rae's memory.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date however, there will be a private family interment.

The family requests that condolences and memories can be left by visiting Rae's memorial page at seasonsfunerals.ca

  • So sorry Rae has passed. My memory is as a young girl,I was at your mom and dad's wedding. I saw the beautiful dress Eva was wearing, I knew at that very moment I wanted to be a seamstress so I could make dresses like hers and my wish came true many many times over the years, all because of that special day.
