LAWRENCE OSIOWY
September 3, 1955 - April 3, 2020

After a life well lived, Lawrence passed peacefully, at home, with his family by his side; he was 64 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years,
Josie, stepson Brent Steg, stepdaughter Jena Steg, grandchildren, Emma, Hannah and Seth, his brother Harvey, as well as his cousins and long time friends. Lawrence was predeceased by his father Harry and mother Ruth.
Lawrence grew up in Hazelridge,
surrounded by a loving family. His childhood was filled with countless outings, dinners and fond memories. Lawrence always took pride in what he did, including his 19 years as a salesman for Winnipeg Yamaha, as well as over 10 years hauling trailers for Holiday RV. He worked hard no matter where life led him and created many friendships along the way.
Lawrence had a passion for nature.
Whether it was going on camping trips, spending the day on the lake fishing or sitting by the fire at the cabin, he truly lived to share this joy with his family; especially his
grandchildren. He always said he had the greatest friends that anyone could ask for. They shared many exciting adventures and he cherished those memories fondly.
Lawrence's charismatic nature will be
missed and remembered forever; he will
always be in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
A celebration of Lawrence's life will be planned at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (14 entries)

  • Lawrence hated me from day one. New kid at Winnipeg Yamaha. He was a musician and I thought that was my in. He saw me perform at City Lights....and hated me more. Then...with a flick of a switch...he took me under his wing. He taught me everything. We became best friends. He moved on to music and so did I. Our last conversation was him coming to my place in Vegas. Miss you Lawrence. Until the next chord.....🎼 - Posted by: Skip Isfeld (Friend) on: Dec 31, 2023

  • I met Lawrence over 40 years ago through my cousin Alan Ptak. I last saw him some years ago when I bought a guitar from him. Although our paths did not cross frequently, when they did Lawrence always met me with a smile. Sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Wade Doberstein (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2020

  • Condolences to Josie and family and brother Harvey. As I sit in isolation thinking of all the great moments we had at 580 Dugald Road, the bus trips to Apple River and Sugar Hills, New Zealand and living in Elmwood there are just too many great moments that stand out or not appropriate to mention for this venue. We lost a good friend in January and now the other great friend of the “Dave and Lawrence” duo is now in our memory. I am very saddened and then for a short moment a memory will come along and I start laughing out loud. Thanks for the memories Lawrence and being a good friend, I will miss you. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Gerry Koreman (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2020

  • I feel fortunate having known Lawrence for quite a few years. I always looked forward to seeing Lawrence at least once a week when he would come in with another load of trailers. The many discussions we had about all the important things in life will always stay with me. I will miss my friend dearly. Condolences to Josie and Lawrence's whole family. • Although it has been a long time since I have seen Lawrence, I have great memories of him from high school and afterward when he, his cousin Ron Eckhardt, and I shared an apartment in the Osborne village for a year in the 1970s. In my memories “cousin Larry” always has a big smile whether he was the object of, or pulling one of our endless pranks on each other. I recall one evening at a bar somewhere to watch Lawrence playing accordion as the keyboard part of a rock band. At the end of a set in the typically noisy bar, I mouthed at Lawrence “In A Godda Da Vida“. The band, of course had never practiced the song but Lawrence quickly played the famous keyboard intro that he had memorized. The entire bar suddenly went silent and turned to stare in anticipation, as did the rest of his band, except they were in shock! There was Lawrence going “Oops, no no no! Just kidding” I am very much saddened by the news of Lawrence’s passing and my sincere condolences go out to his family and many many friends. - Posted by: Ron Sellen (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2020

  • We are all so sorry to Josie and family for the loss of Lawrence. Lawrence was an awesome person who always gave 110% of effort to everything he did. His family at Holiday RV are sad and grieving his passing and know we have lost a dear friend and co worker. Even after telling Lawrence hauling trailers was too hard on him when he was sick, he still kept going and did his job as long as he could. He was a great guy and we all appreciated him for his dedication and always doing what was best for us! We have all missed seeing him weekly when he was hauling but when he would stop in to say hi in recent weeks, everyone's spirits were lifted by him. May you feel comfort and peace and know that Lawrence was loved and cared for by everyone he touched. - Posted by: Marilyn Pankratz (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2020
