BRIAN STACEY RIDLEY
Brian was born in Manitou, Manitoba to Skip and Myrtle Ridley. He attended school in South Junction, Sprague and Piney and then in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba. He worked for over 35 years for Canada Customs at several border crossings, before moving to Winnipeg to work in the Regional office.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lois, and his son Cam and Cam's fiance Amanda Chudyk. He is also survived by his sister Arlene Downey (Robb Austin); his brothers-in- law Greg Wright and Gordon Wright (Mayumi) and several nieces and nephews. As well, he is survived by a very special cousin, Rod Ridley, who was like a brother to him.
Brian retired in 2008 and since then, he and Lois have spent every winter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with a great group of friends, where, being an avid golfer all his life, he spent many happy hours on the golf course. He loved working in the yard at home and made the most of our summer weather. He was always willing to lend others a helping hand and over the years became very proficient at building and fixing just about anything.
Brian loved his life in East St. Paul, where he had great friends and neighbours. He was so very proud of Cam and his career with the City of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and was really looking forward to Cam's wedding in August. We know he will be with us in spirit.
He was the best of men and the rock of our family who showed his love for us in his actions every day.
The family would like to thank the East St. Paul Fire Department, the Interlake Ambulance Service and especially the neighbours who responded so quickly to help him.
In accordance with Brian's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Because Brian was best buddies with Cam and Amanda's dog Jax, who was an adopted rescue, it would be appreciated if those who wish to honour Brian's memory consider making a donation to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter.
"No longer in our lives,
but forever in our hearts."

Lois, Cam and family. We were shocked and very saddened when we heard of Brian's sudden, unexpected passing. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all of you and we hope that as time goes by, the sense of loss and sorrow you are now feeling will begin to ease. Brian is gone far too soon, but he most certainly was someone that very much enjoyed life and to whom family was very important. Cherish the many fond, fun memories you all have of Brian and hold them close to your hearts. I have lots of good, funny memories from having worked with Brian for many years and have often retold stories of humourous occasions involving Brian.
