FAYE GRANT
How lucky we are to have had someone
who makes saying goodbye so difficult.
Faye was predeceased by her husband Al in 2003. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Maureen, Shelley, Karen, Roberta, and Tracie; her sons-in-law, David, Richard, Lyle, and Morgan; her nine grandchildren and spouses, Carli and Brian, Jana and Patrick, Jennifer and Michael, Jared and Sara, Justin, Brittany, Braden, Jori, and Alix; 10 great-grandchildren, Brenly, Gwynn, Colby, Price, Chloe, Emma, Ashley, Max, Leo, and Shay, who were the lights of her life, and her special friend and partner, Jack. She is also survived by her "kid" brother, Harry Caine.
Faye was born on January 12, 1926, in Winnipeg. She grew up in a fun-loving and large family of eight children. The stories of life on Boyd Avenue with her parents, sisters, and brothers are full of love and laughter.
On August 31, 1947, Faye married Allan Grant. Together they raised five daughters and shared 56 wonderful years together. Family meant everything to Faye, and their house on Lanark was referred to as "Grant" Central Station - the door was always open, coffee was always on, and beautiful memories were made there. Faye's holiday dinners always included extended family and friends. All were welcome in her home, with the dinner table stretching as far as the eye could see. After Al's passing, Faye's strength was an inspiration to all of us.
Faye spent many years volunteering. One claim to fame was that she was the longest serving volunteer at John Dafoe School. Faye spent countless hours volunteering for organizations including NCJW and ORT. At 60 years young, Faye began her work career which lasted well into her 90s. She was an independent woman who continued to drive up until a few months ago. Faye and Al enjoyed their yearly trips to Palm Springs, where they were also able to spend time with their children and grandchildren from Los Angeles.
Faye's greatest thrill was spending time with her family. She would spend hours with the kids playing, baking, talking, and laughing. She often Face-Timed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved seeing their smiling faces. Faye was tech savvy and just this week, participated in family zoom calls, excited to have everyone on the screen at one time.
Faye and Jack found each other in 2013. He is a beautiful person with the heart of an angel and made our mom so happy. They laughed and loved and were so fortunate to have found each other later in their lives.
Faye loved people, and was loved in return by all who met her. Whether you knew her for a minute or a lifetime you couldn't help but be touched by her spunk, kindness, and sense of humour.
When she faced her toughest challenge, a cancer diagnosis, Faye did so with strength and courage. She was positive and brave until her last breath.
We will always remember her with a smile on our faces and with love in our hearts.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be having a private family service.

Faye was such a good friend of mine, especially when I first moved to Winnipeg. She helped me make new friends and establish some roots here. We did so many fun things together. She was always the organizer at Swindon Way and kept us all busy. When I moved away from Swindon we kept in touch and she would come pick me up to go out for lunch. I will miss her very much. She was an amazing lady. - Posted by: Myrna Reinhorn (Friend) on: Apr 15, 2020

I think I spent as much time at your house as my own growing up. Faye was so welcoming and warm no matter what was going on around her. I learned a lot from her about grace and being your own person, as well as the enduring nature of friendship. My love and condolences to you all. - Posted by: Sheryl Goldin (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2020
