Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Our condolences to Anna and family. Phil was a really good guy. I have missed bowling with him for a while now. He was the kindest SKIP. My mother-in-law was a distant cousin. Her name was also Sarrasin. Both were called BUCKWHEAT when they were kids. He will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Laurette Godard (friend) on: Apr 22, 2020

  • I had the pleasure of knowing Phil when I worked for Safeway in the head office and he was a bakery manager. One of my many jobs was hiring in-store bakery help and providing the bakeries with sickness and holiday relief workers. This is how I got to know Phil from the many phone calls to me over the years and also visiting his bakery and really getting to know him. Phil ran a good and profitable in-store bakery operation for Safeway. He had a really nice personality and his staff liked working with him. It was fun to hear all the French bakery managers telling me that the French ran the best bakeries, whereas the German, Scotch, Dutch, Italian and English bakery managers all said the same. There was a lot of friendly competition and ribbing among the managers as to who were the best bakers. From all the operations in Safeway, the bakery was a very close knit group. I really enjoyed the times I talked and visited with Phil. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Colin Dederick (fellow worker) on: Apr 16, 2020
