ELSIE VALENTINE (VAL) TAYLOR
February 14, 1943 - April 10, 2020
Val was predeceased by her father Fred in 1962 and her mother Elsie in 2006. Val will be missed and lovingly remembered by her sister Carole (Bob) McDonald, brother Grant (Linda) Taylor, nephew Gary (Daisy) McDonald; nieces, Cheryl McDonald, Leanne (Jason) Ivison, Lorraine (Ryan) Dulder; great-nephews, Taylor Ivison, Brennan McDonald, Wade Dulder; and great-niece Lena Dulder.
Val was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB where she attended Elmwood High School. After high school Val started her career at Great West Life. In 1976 she and Mom moved to Vancouver, BC before moving to Richmond, BC in 1978. Val continued her career for many years retiring from Industrial Alliance Pacific as a medical insurance underwriter in December, 2008. Val had a passion for travelling. Her most memorable trip was the Alaskan cruise and Europe tour that she went on with Mom. She also enjoyed returning to Winnipeg each year to spend the Christmas holidays with her family. She enjoyed travelling around BC acting as the tour guide for the family during the many family vacations. She will always be remembered for her deep love for animals especially for all her dogs (Lupa, Megan, Amber and Kayla). Val was a very sociable person and enjoyed meeting and making new friends. Over the years she and her friends formed a dog walking group and rain or shine, Val always looked forward to their evening walks.
The family would like to express a sincere appreciation to Dr. Henderson and to the staff at the Rosewood Manor for their care and compassion shown to Val.
As per Val's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the C.A.A.R.E. Rescue (Companion Animal Advocacy and Rescue Effort).
