RICHARD TAYLOR CLARKE
1934 - 2020
He was born on Valour Road to Amy and Charles Clarke, and attended Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre. Rich was very proud of both his dad's and his Uncle Leo's service in the First World War, his uncle being one of the Valour Road Victoria Cross recipients.
Richard married Margaret Pal in 1953 and they had three children, Lynda, Richard Jr. and Barbara. He spent 20 years working with the Boy Scouts of Canada in Alberta and British Columbia.
While living in British Columbia he studied to become a psychotherapist and counsellor. Through this work, Richard helped countless individuals and organizations all over the world. He was married to Carolyn Nilsson for 30 years and they, along with their cats, divided their time between Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast. He made deep friendships everywhere he went and loved to laugh.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Amy, his dear younger brother George, and his sister-in-law Jean. He will be greatly missed by his big brother Leo, his children, Lynda, Richard Jr. and Barbara, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carolyn, his nieces and nephews and their families, and by his many friends.
Richard showed his true self on his first day of school. When he didn't come home at lunch, Leo found him walking a little girl home because she wasn't sure of the way. Rich was a loving and caring person and will be greatly missed.
