MARION GRIEVE
(nee SUSINSKI)

Marion was born on December 24, 1934, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, the second youngest of the six children of Mary and Dan Susinski. She passed away on April 16, 2020, and was predeceased by both her parents and all of her siblings, Elsie, Stella, Mike, Jack and Douglas, as well as her beloved, oldest son Danny, and her sweet husband Mac.
Mom grew up in Shoal Lake, MB, then as a young woman travelled to Toronto to stay with her oldest sister Elsie and take a course in Office Administration. She later moved to Edmonton, met her first husband Paul Balak, and lived there for a brief period before returning to Shoal Lake in 1971, where she worked at the Morley House. She quickly re-established her roots in her hometown with four busy kids, as a very involved mom in all activities related to the rink and the community. It was there that she connected with the wonderful Mac Grieve and married him in 1981.
The two of them spent many happy times together travelling, golfing, gardening, fishing, curling and cross-country skiing. After the sudden passing of Mac, Mom moved to Winnipeg to start anew. She quickly established herself as a member of the Wildwood Golf Club and Ft. Rouge Curling Club and a member of the Rebekah Lodges for 34 years. Mom was an extremely active and influential member of her condo board and an amazing hockey Grandma/Nana, always enjoying a game at the rink while watching her grandsons play. As a honorary Goldeye, she spent many summer days at the ballpark cheering for the home team and had a special fondness for Goldie the mascot.
Marion leaves to mourn her daughters, Karen Ann (Glen) and Colleen, son Darcy (Carrie), and stepsons, Ian (Adele), Glen (Doreen) and Brian (Cyndy), as well as grandsons, Jonah, Nick, Erik, Kyle and Clark, and granddaughters, Courtney, Aimee, Janelle, Krista and Lily.
Special thanks to her best friend Lynda Unfried and her Rebekah Lodge sisters for all the love and support, the bridge games and keeping her company over these past long months.
We appreciate the work of the team at Riverview Health Centre, Doctors West and Chowdhury and their nurses, Robert and Olive, who did their best to extend Mom's life for us.
Marion has been cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held in Winnipeg once family and friends are allowed to gather. A private family service will occur at her final place of rest in Shoal Lake, MB later on this year.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a cause which is close to Mom's heart:
