ELSE LISBETH (ANNELIESE) FRICKE

Anneliese, aged 99, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2020, at Heritage Lodge, Winnipeg, MB.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ludwig; son, Michael; her parents, Franz and Emma Becker; a brother, Franz; and three older sisters, Anna, Martha and Hilde.
Anneliese will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Barbara (Brad) Groening of Port Hardy, BC; grandsons, Aaron (Danielle) Groening of Surrey, BC, Stephen Groening (Dana Pinzaru) of Calgary, AB, Scott Delorme (Amanda Wawyn) of Winnipeg, MB; and great-grandchildren, Ivy and Jack Groening of Surrey, BC. She also leaves to mourn many friends from the Seine River Retirement Residence; and her group of German friends affectionately known as the "Kissing Gang".
Anneliese was born July 20, 1920, in Hannover, Germany. As a young woman she worked in several stores as a salesperson, and when the Second World War broke out, she served in the Air Force as a radio operator. She then met the love of her life, Ludwig, and was married October 15, 1948. In 1951 they immigrated to Canada, looking to build a new life together after the war. Winnipeg was as far as their life savings would take them, and within a year they had saved enough for a down payment on the family home on Kingston Crescent in St. Vital. In later years, they purchased a cottage at Wallace Lake, which was a dream come true for them.
Anneliese lived a wonderful, long life, dedicated to her family and friends whom she cherished. She had a deep affection for Ludwig, her husband of 47 years, and for her grandchildren with whom she enjoyed spending time. Mom was a dedicated homemaker, keeping an immaculate household, baking wonderful treats, hosting fabulous parties for family and friends, and sharing her love of handiwork and travel with those around her.
Thank you to the staff at Seine River Retirement Residence, Deer Lodge 4W, and Heritage Lodge for the kind care Mom received.
As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, hopefully in July 2020.
