FRED GEORGE STAGG
December 22, 1941 - April 11, 2020

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved husband of 51 years. Fred passed away on April 11, 2020, at the Chemainus Health Care Centre in Chemainus, BC.
Fred is survived by his wife Kathy, sister Sandy (Wayne), and two nieces, Debbie (Mark) and Kim (Mike).
Fred had a great sense of humour and was as cheeky as he was clever. Fred's laugh and smile will be missed and remembered always.
To say the least, it has been a great blessing to have been by his side all these years.
There will be no service by request.

  • I was working at Canadian publishers around 1968 when I met Fred. He was selling off- set printing plates. Always liked Fred and remember him well. Sorry for your loss he was a good man. - Posted by: Rick Guarino (Coworker ) on: May 01, 2020

  • Fred and Kathy were our loving and caring neighbours during our days living in Winnipeg. For forty years our friendship has continued regardless of geographic distance. Fred always made us laugh. He was genuine and a true friend. We know that he will always keep an eye out for Kathy. Our sincerest sympathy. Love, Jeannie and George. - Posted by: Jean Lemoire, George Forsyth (Friends) on: Apr 26, 2020

  • We have lost a very dear friend. It was through the printing industry that we met you both, Kathy. Jim and I are sorry for your great loss. We can’t begin to express the wonderful friendship we have had these past 40 years. We have great memories of trips together, Christmas Eves and many other social events and private get-togethers. Thank you for the iconic friendship. Thinking of you, Kathy. With love and hugs, Jim and Mary - Posted by: Jim and Mary Friesen (Friends) on: Apr 25, 2020

  • Fred and I met at Eaton's in 1958 and have been Friends ever since. Fred will always be remembered for his story-telling. My Mother said the party starts when Fred shows up. We drifted a bit as we proceeded through life but on reconnecting no sense of time had passed between us. Ingrid and myself will miss him. - Posted by: manfred kapitoler (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2020

  • It is a sad day when such a great sense of humor and a lively spirit leaves us. Our heartfelt sorrow and sympathy go out to Kathy, who herself was always a joy to be around. Fred was, on every occasion, a pleasant and easygoing guy, with whom you could trade snappy dialog, and enjoy a good laugh. Although we had not seen the Staggs for a number of years, there are fond memories of times past that linger on. We never knew a time when Fred would greet you with anything but a kind word and a friendly smile. Our hearts go out to you Kathy: keep well! - Posted by: Gerry and Audrey Chapman (Long time friends) on: Apr 25, 2020

  • I am so very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He certainly did have the biggest smile and an infectious laugh. I have wonderful memories of times we all spent at the Gimli and Winnipeg Beach golf courses over those many years. One particular time that will always stand out for me was when Fred had declared that having a dinner party was not a difficult thing to do and took it on when he was challenged. He insisted on doing everything himself, and to the surprise of the challengers it turned out to be a huge success. He was congratulated, but when asked if he would host another one, he declined. He had proved he could do it , but was not anxious to do it again. Take care of yourself Kathy. You know that is what Fred would have wanted. - Posted by: Laurie Stirton (friend) on: Apr 25, 2020
