ISAGANI LEGASPI MATEO
Isagani Legaspi Mateo was born on June 3, 1950 in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines, to Danila Legaspi and (late) Rafael Mateo. He attended Feati University where he completed the Electronic Technician course. He immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1974, where with his late wife Violeta, had two children and started their business, IV Drapery, until her death. Isagani found love again with Nigna "Angie" Giron. They were married, had four children, and moved to Calgary to raise their family. He loved his family with ferocity, always the protector, teacher and friend. He loved fishing, cooking, horticulture, decorating the house for different occasions, and was a master at turning trash into treasure. Isagani was overflowing with generosity and friendliness with anyone he came across. He was a very active member in his church community and senior group, in which he always made sure everyone was well fed. He especially loved caring for his two dogs, King Kilo and Prince Kobe.
Isagani is survived by his wife Angie Mateo; and his six children and six grandchildren: Liezl Mateo, Cherylyn and Greg Lintao Jr. (Logan and Grayson), Audreybelle and Erwin Vitug (Christian and Jolie Belle), Naomi and Junsay Reyes (Isaiah and Isabella), Rafdaniel Mateo and Danisa Mateo. He also leaves to cherish his memory five sisters: Luz and Eddie Santiaguel (deceased), Lucita Mateo, Myrna Mateo, Isabel and Felipe Dimaunahan and Nancy Mateo. Isagani will be dearly missed by his in-laws, and his nieces and nephews: Bella Giron (in-law), Rainier Giron (Belleenda, Erick, Ashley and Melissa), Lanabelle Giron, Annalissa Giron, Mark and Judith Giron (Madeline and Gregory), Mylee Santiaguel, Joycee and Ryan San Miguel (Lincoln and Trinity), Denis Dimaunahan, David Crowchild and Isabel Versola. He will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family would also like to extend a big thank you to the ICU staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital for their hospitality and support during this time.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a small viewing and mass will be held. Isagani will be laid to rest in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
