IRENE FLORENCE HARDY
(nee KEATS)

Mom was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba on October 13, 1923, to Archibald and Myrtle (nee Morris) Keats. She was the second oldest of five children. Mom passed away on Monday April 20, 2020.
She was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Myrtle; and by her siblings, Gordon Keats (Ann), Vivian Bassett (Elmer), Vernon Keats and Donald Keats; and her husband Thomas Hardy Sr.
Left to remember her are her children, Bryan Watson (Janice) and Bonnie Gregoire (Donald); two sisters-in-law, Irva Keats and Shirley Keats. As well as five stepchildren, Muriel Smith (Neil), Thomas Hardy Jr. (Laurene), Harold Hardy (Brenda), Douglas Hardy (Louise) and Norman Hardy (Sandy); 21 nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Mom was a hard worker, having to work outside the home making sure there was enough to feed and clothe her two children through very tough times. This is a testament to her strong and resilient personality. She also was a caring, loving person to both her families and gave to several charities when she was able.
Mom's wish was to return to Gilbert Plains which will be done at a later date.
The family wants to thank all the staff at the Riverview Health Centre Nursing Home D3 ward for their very compassionate care during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Riverview Health Centre Foundation or to an abused women's organization of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Florence was our Step Mother and Grandmother to our children for almost 50 years. She was a wonderful down to earth person and treated us all with exceptional kindness, generosity and love. We will remember her with fondness for the many years she devoted to our family, always making us feel welcome and loved. She and our Father spent many years in Kelowna, B.C. in retirement after moving from Winnipeg. They enjoyed winters in Florida and Arizona and always welcomed us for visits. Florence will always have a special place in our hearts. Muriel & Neil, Tom & Laurene, Hal & Brenda, Doug & Louise and Norm & Sandy. - Posted by: Muriel Smith (Step Daughter) on: Apr 27, 2020
