Born in Whitebeech, Saskatchewan, the middle child in his family, he is also survived by his sister's children: Linda ( Rick), Darlene (Donald), Gail (Wesley), Alden (Sonia), Tracy (Ken) and their children; his brother's children: Glen (Donna), Corinne (Jason) and their children; his brother-in-law Hellar Komarnicki and his family of Peace River, AB; his sisters-in-law: Pauline Ivaniski and her family; Gertrude (Ian) McKinnon of Winnipeg, MB; Joyce (Jim) Gordon and their family of Peace River, AB; Georgena Gillespie of Portage la Prairie, MB, and his cousins the Yungkurts and the Irvings.
Barrie was a man who enjoyed life, work and a good meal. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature's bounty and was often busy at the lake, garden or berry patch. When all was said and done a good dance was sure to follow. From an early age he was a driver and truly enjoyed the profession all his life. No task was ever too great for Barrie, he relished any challenge he could resolve. He lived in a number of different communities and enjoyed the company of the many fine people he met in Gillam, Grand Rapids, MacGregor, Winnipeg, Loon River, Chestermere and Peace River.
Cremation has taken place and providing COVID-19 allows, a memorial honouring his life will be held this summer in Portage la Prairie. We will forever remember Barrie's love of dancing by his favourite dance tune "Waltz of the Leaves " by Graham Townsend.
He has been granted eternal rest
and his soul is at Peace.

Barrie was a very dear friend and made a huge impact on my life. His kindness and down to Earthness I will treasure the rest of my life. I am so very lucky to have known Barrie and his influence in my life will never be forgotten. He was a one of a kind man...rare in this world. He will forever have a place in my heart. My heart breaks for his amazing wife LaVina and this world is a much sadder place without him in it. - Posted by: Leslee Holland (friend and admirer ) on: Apr 27, 2020
