June, 1941 - April, 2020

Peter leaves to mourn his wife Judy, of 58 years; his children, Gregory (Cindy), Mark (Connie), Susan, John (Jennifer); nine grandchildren, James, Sean, Mitchell, Peter, Nicolas, Ryan, Alisa, Cale, Kiya; and four great-grandchildren, Noah, Levi, Serenity, Edmund. He also will be missed by his brothers, Paul (Judy), David (Sheila), and sister-in-law Shirley. He was predeceased by his mother Marguerite, father John; brothers, Gregory and Michael; as well as his twin sister Marcia and many nephews and nieces.
Peter was in the automobile business for most of his life. Transmissions were his specialty and he was a manager for 25 years. With his wife by his side, they raised their family in the village of Birds Hill, and in the summer months, they journeyed to the family cottage located at Red Deer Lake in Northwestern Ontario. Peter built the cottage with the help of his family from the ground up; it was a labour of love; a source of great pride and it gave him much happiness over many years. It expanded into a family resort, where there were many gatherings, with family, friends and neighbours. It was his favourite place to be. He was a good, kind and generous person always helping others. Later, in his retirement years, Peter enjoyed travelling in his car roaming the countryside. On these trips he would visit with his friends, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Of course, he would always have a treat in his car for the dogs.

He will be missed.
God be with you until we meet again.

At his request, a cremation has taken place, there will be a private service at a later date.

  • Dear Judy: Sorry to read of Peter's passing. I was very fortunate to have met you through Keith Cale. • Mrs. Stanley, Greg, Mark, Susan and John; Sorry to hear of Mr. Stanley's passing. I have some memories of all of you when my parents and you were close. I remember Mr. Stanley as always being quick to laugh, with a larger than life personality. I remember the day he got the first snowmobile in Bird's Hill (the first one I had ever seen anyways) and it was called the Silver Ghost or some such thing.... went in reverse and he was so proud of it! I think of you all often, mostly hoping that you are all happy in your lives and that some peace will find each of you. - Posted by: Alix McLachlan (Bird's Hill neighbor) on: May 02, 2020
