DONALD GEORGE HALIPCHUK
March 3, 1937 - April 18, 2020

Peacefully on April 18, 2020, Donald was gently tapped on the shoulder, passing away at St. Boniface Hospital, with his wife Irene, and family, at his side.
Don had significant health problems over the years, rarely complaining, accepting his fate graciously. He was a very warm, loving, and friendly person; a real gentleman. Winnipeg was his home.
Don loved his family and friends dearly, from Australia, Amsterdam, New York, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, providing him love and laughter. He loved celebrations, and home was always open to all who called.
Don leaves to celebrate his life his loving wife of 58 years, Irene; brothers, Stan (Claudette), Daniel, Solita, Michelle, Claude, Ken (Myra), Joelyne; sister-in-law, Olga; Bill, Andy, Donna (Cassie), Danny (Michelle), Jaclyn, Jordan; brothers-in-law, Len (Judith), Markus and Travis; Ronald (Cathy), Nancy (Colin), Natasha, Ron, John. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anne; in-laws, Roman and Mary Bylo; and brother-in-law, Walter Szutiak.
Our family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. G. Balko, paramedics, St. Boniface Hospital doctors and amazing staff.
At Don's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Boniface Hospital Heart Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

  • Don was a quiet, wonderful, gentle soul who never complained about his misfortunes and always looked on the positive side of life. Don always had a smile on his face and loved to host his extended family at the large Easter and Christmas festivities he and Irene hosted. He worked very hard throughout his life and was very kind and gentle with all his nieces and nephews (his keeds). He is deeply missed and leaves a huge hole in our lives. Love you Donch.
