Raymond Arthur Koberstein was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 20, 1967 to Art and Irma Koberstein. He passed away April 23, 2020 at Health Sciences Centre after a long battle with cardiac issues.
He will be missed by his parents; his younger brother Leonard James; as well as many friends and relatives.
Raymond was blessed with the gift of music until a stroke in 2009 robbed him of his livelihood. He was in and out of the hospital for many years, before he succumbed to his illness.
Due to the Coronavirus situation, a celebration of Raymond's life will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (25 entries)

  • I met Raymond when we were in our teens. He was in Prodigy and I was blown away how he could sing! I always said if I was to get married he would sing at my wedding. Raymond kept his promise and sang at my wedding. Raymond and I instantly got along. One of those rare friendships where we connected instantly. I asked him years later to work at the greenhouse because not only was he incredibly talented but an amazing person that anyone who had the honor of working with him knows this. You are so missed Raymond and so loved. Till we meet again.. Michele - Posted by: Michele Schriemer (Friend ) on: Dec 20, 2020

  • We are so sorry about the passing of Raymond and the loss you as a family must bear. When I think of Raymond I think not only of his gift of music which was amazing , but also of his warmth and compassion. My memories go way back to a time when I was counselor at Nutimik Lake Baptist Camp. I came down with a bug and was "bedridden" feeling rotten instead of being with the campers. All of a sudden there was Raymond standing outside my open room with his heart of compassion, checking on me, talking to me , instead of running out to be with all the others having fun. Another memory is when I accidentally ran into him coming home from high school. He took the time to stop and visit with me. We had a nice chat just standing on the sidewalk. Of course the topic of music came up. Raymond was a wonderful musician but also a caring individual, which is so precious!!!. I am so sorry for all he had to go through and for all the pain you as a family must go through now. You have already been through much. May God hold you especially close and comfort you. Soon we will all be joining Raymond and enjoying our home in heaven and all God has prepared for us. No more sorrow, no more pain ! Just a glorious future !! Our hearts go out to you. • I am deeply sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I worked closely with Raymond for two decades on boards and committees (and was even his boss for a time) and we were in touch almost daily for years. I admired so much about him, not the least of which was his wicked sense of humour and vast intellectual capacity. By now, he would be telling me I've written too much! - Posted by: J.
