MARI LOUISE CLARKE
November 22, 1966 - April 26, 2020

It is with deep sorrow that we announce Mari's sudden passing, on April 26.
Mari passed away peacefully at home, leaving to grieve her mother Mary, brother Mark (Cathy Senecal), sisters, Theresa (Peter Williams) and Pamela (James Buchok), and nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Matthew, Beth, Sacha and James. Mari will also be missed by many dear longtime friends. Mari's cherished father, Peter, predeceased her (2015).
Mari had a special way of making everyone feel comfortable and special. Intelligent, funny, compassionate, patient and kind, Mari enhanced the lives of the residents of the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home for many years as a Recreational Activities Aide.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be determined, when Mari's family and friends can gather to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mari can be made to The Salvation Army's "Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program", 324 Logan Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 0L5 or a charity of your choice.

  • To Mari's family sorry for your loss, Mari was an amazing person. My grandma used to live at Tuexdo Villa and I spent most of my days there and Mari was so nice and kind and one day she brought me a gift out of the blue. I helped Mari lots especially when she wasn’t up to watering the flowers, she always said hello to me in passing. Last Christmas I saw Mari at a school craft sale and she was so happy to see me she called out my name as I approached her table, she was so interested in how I was doing and wanted to know if I still came to visit Tuxedo as my grandma had passed and she even gave me a candy from her table. She was so happy and her smile and laugh were bigger than life. We will miss you Mari but Rest In Peace I till we see you again one day hugs to the family - Posted by: Meghan (Former family member at Tuexdo villa ) on: May 09, 2020

  • On behalf of the Kagan family, we send our deepest condolences. I knew Mari in the early part of her life. Our families attended the same church where my mother volunteered as a catechism teacher. Mari was so full of life, incredibly smart and so kind. Although I have not seen her in years, I still remember her laugh and energy as though it was yesterday. She will be missed - Posted by: John Kagan (friend) on: May 06, 2020

  • Our condolences to Mari's family and Special friend Glen. We have had the pleasure of many visits/dinners with Mari and Glen the past 10 or so years. • To Mrs. Clarke, Mark, Theresa, Pam and families: My sincere condolences to you all. Though I had not seen Mari in the last few years, she was a dear friend and I have countless memories of the good times we spent together when we were younger. She was a genuinely kind, considerate person who was always interested in what other people were up to, and she rejoiced in their happiness. She was also super insightful and had a great sense of humour...I will never forget her laugh. Through Mari's kindness, I met Mark, with whom I worked one wonderful summer at Hecla, an experience that changed my life. I feel fortunate to have known Mari. She made a positive difference in many, many people's lives. Thinking of you all - Doug Shearer. - Posted by: Doug Shearer (Friend) on: May 04, 2020

  • On behalf of Mary Jannetta, our family sends our condolences to Mari’s family. Our mother was a resident at Tuxedo Villa, where she first met Mari, and they quickly became friends. Mari brightened our mother’s day whenever they were in each other’s company. After our mother moved to West Park Manor, Mari would come to visit her, taking the time to come often after her work day, and always bringing a small gift. Mari was cheerful, always had a smile on her face, and our mom will fondly remember her friendship and kindness. Please know that Mari made a difference in our mother’s life over the last few years, and we were all very sad to learn of her passing. - Posted by: Mary Jannetta and family (friend) on: May 03, 2020

  • I was sad to hear this news and send my condolences to all of Mari's friends and family. I have not connected with Mari since we were teenagers in school in Winnipeg. It sounds as though, since that time, Mari has been leading a fulfilling life helping others and will be greatly missed. Life at Queenston School (our elementary school) was like having a little gang - as it must be for all children. We all spent a solid 7 years together, we knew everything about each other, about each other's families, pets, activities, likes and dislikes. We lived in each other's pockets. We roamed the neighbourhood like a pack of dogs, going in and out of each other's houses, biking to random destinations and played endlessly in the snow. This intimate relationship is easy to recall even 40 years later and seems like it was just yesterday. Mari was part of my Brownie and guiding experience outside of school as well. We are immortalized at our youthful selves in all those class pictures - and it would seem from the picture here, that Mari has not changed a bit. She still has the same smile and friendly face. Although Mari and I were not currently connected, hearing this news hits close to home. We are not yet supposed to be losing someone our age, and it brings into focus that we are not the invincible young kids that we once were. I am very sorry that I will not have a chance to reminisce with her in person. My thoughts are with those of you who were in Mari's life today. I know she will be missed. - Posted by: Diane Katrusiak (ne Malaher) (Friend) on: May 01, 2020

  • I'm so incredibly sorry to hear of Mari's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of her at Queenston and the two of us taking ballet together for so many years. Our paths have crossed on and off over the years and she always made me smile and laugh every time we reconnected. I also had the pleasure of getting to know Theresa when we worked together in Thompson. To the entire Clarke family, I am so very sorry for your loss and am thinking of all of you. - Posted by: Darcy Cantin (Friend) on: May 01, 2020
