JOAN CHRISTINE HANSEY
Joan was born on February 21, 1942 in Sherridon, Manitoba to Olga and Nelson Strand. Joan became a hairdresser at the age of 16 and she continued to do hair for 39 years. She was married to Angus Hansey for 58 years.
Joan had many different passions which included painting, dogs, cooking, playing the accordion, listening to music and planting flowers, also tending to her garden at the cottage. Angus and family, we were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Joan. She was a wonderful woman and a great neighbor. She was super friendly and always said hello when we were outside. My children and wife always remember her bringing cookies over for our kids to enjoy. If there is anything you ever need help with Angus please don't ever be afraid to ask. We are a big family and would help in a heartbeat. Thinking of you during your time of hurt. Chris and Shannon Williams - Posted by: Chris and Shannon Williams (Neighbor) on: Jun 16, 2020

So saddened to hear of your recent loss. After so many years it was nice to see Joan last fall standing at the door handing out Halloween treats to the grandchildren. Our blessings go out to you and your family. Evelyn Batenchuk & family - Posted by: Evelyn Batenchuk (Neighbors) on: May 25, 2020

Gus you are in the many loving arms of your children and grand children. You will be OK.No words can express how much we loved and valued Joans 30 years of friendship. We will miss her beautiful soul and heart. She always welcomed all to her cabin with open arms, sometimes filling 2 lots with family members. The more that came the happier she was.We fondly remember the beautiful meals, the bon fires, singing, dancing, music played loud and music played softly, joking and laughing, star gazing, mid night walks, and of course Woody. Her well manicured yard and garden gave us a beautiful place to share many a coffee and conversations about lifes ups and downs. We are very sad for each and everyone one of you in this this Big Beautiful Hansey Family. She is planting her marigold seeds, feeding the deer Hostas, and the squrrrels are eating peanuts out of her hands up in heaven right now. - Posted by: Deb & Jim (long time friends) on: May 02, 2020

Dear Gus and Family. We are deeply saddened to learn today of Joan’s passing. We did not see her and her family as much as we would have liked however when we did visit it was always a warm and special occasion! Getting yearly updates from her at Christmas was something we always looked forward to. I still recall that Joan was responsible for the only car trip the Strands of Atikokan made as a family: it was a drive to Winnipeg to be at the wedding of Joan and Gus. What a beautiful couple they made then, and what a wonderfully legacy they have created. Our times with them will be forever cherished. Your contagious smile and laughter will forever live in our hearts. I will never forget the click sandwiches you made at the cabin - looked really gross but I was so wrong. They were amazing - made with Ammy’s love. We all miss you so much. Much Love. <3 - Posted by: Creighton Baird (Granddaughters Sig. Other) on: May 01, 2020
