HELEN DE PAIVA
Helen will be missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Dolores; grandchildren, Lindsey (Jennifer), and Sarah (Matthew); great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Tyler, and Steven; siblings, Henry and Mary, and so many other relatives and friends.
Helen was born on June 15, 1926, in Schoenwiese, MB. She was the oldest girl of eight sisters and six brothers born to Jacob and Margaret Kehler. She moved to Winnipeg at 18, where very soon Helen found the love of her life, Harry de Paiva at a coffee shop, and they were married February 21, 1947. Together they had a daughter Dolores, and one surviving son of triplets, Randolph.
Helen was an executive assistant in the Army in Oakville, Ontario, and Winnipeg. After having children, she became a top producing realtor, working at Royal LePage and Century 21 for 50 years collectively, and retired at 90 years old. In her retirement years she took up acting, and was featured in Hollywood productions such as Enron, and A Very Sordid Wedding, and appeared in other films and commercials.
Helen deeply loved all her many family members, friends, clients and colleagues and always enjoyed spending time with them and chatting on the phone. She was a lover of all the wonderful things life had to offer. Helen's strong personality, hearty laugh and uplifting spirit will be missed by all who have known her.
This world has lost a vibrant light.
Due to Covid-19, a private family service will be held at Chapel Lawn. A formal funeral will not be held at this time. When permitted, a Celebration of Life, and reception will be held in her honour. Notification will be posted at a later date.
Many thanks to the palliative care team on the 8th floor of St. Boniface Hospital that helped her through her final days.
Donations may be made in Helen's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Who wouldn’t have loved Helen! She was a gem and I enjoyed Harry as well! Remember her sense of humour....she said I’m not as old as you think I am, I’m older! Always a pleasure to do business with her. My condolences. - Posted by: Ron Derksen (Fellow ®️Realtor ) on: May 07, 2020

I met Helen many years ago as a client. She sold 2 houses for me over the years and was the kindest, and most caring, person I ever met. My sympathies to the family. May she rest in peace with the love of her life by her side. - Posted by: Lindsay McGeachy (client) on: May 07, 2020

I first met Helen, along with her wonderful husband Harry, at an open house when I returned to Winnipeg with my young family back in the early 1980s. She took us through the house and then told us she could do much better than this for our family. And she did! She and her beloved Harry chauffeured us around the city showing us many houses until we found the right one. We remained friends since that time and over the years helped us sell and buy houses two more times. We continued to support each other through life's challenges. She was a kind, caring and devoted friend with immense generosity and was never shy on words. She was quite capable to tell you what was what. She will be greatly missed. Rest well my friend as you walk the streets of gold with your beloved Harry, together again at last. Sincere condolences to Delores, Sarah, Lindsey, and families. - Posted by: Linda Hebb (friend/acquaintance) on: May 04, 2020

Dolores and family, Sympathy to you on the loss of your mom. My parents liked and admired your mom and Dad. We had good visits in Ontario and then my Dad enjoyed meeting with your parents in MB. I remember in Ontario seeing how happy they were to have you. - Posted by: Elizabeth Anne Muckle (family friend) on: May 03, 2020

I am so saddened by your loss. I had just spoken to your Mom recently and we were planning to have lunch at our favourite place once Covid was over with. I will miss your Mom, during our years working together we became very good friends. We often chuckled over the nickname I gave her, Helen the Hammer, during one of our real estate boot camps because she would let new career professionals know that they needed to work hard and not be lazy. Such a sweet woman and may she Rest in Peace xoxo - Posted by: Rolf Hitzer (Friend.) on: May 02, 2020
