CAROLYN RUTH FARMER

Carolyn was born on December 16, 1942 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She lived there for a few years until moving to Dryden. In 1959 she moved to Winnipeg where she graduated from Churchill High School. She was in grade 9 when she met Jim at a school dance. She thought he was very standoffish but that didn't stop her from marrying him. On June 6, 1964 she married the only man she ever loved. Together they would adopt four children.
When first married she and Jim moved around, Yorkton, Carberry and then finally settling in Winnipeg where she was a stay at home mom. In 2002 Carolyn and Jim moved to Gimli where they built their dream home and where she lived until her passing.
Carolyn had many talents besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - she was also a very talented drawer, painter, seamstress and photographer; she also loved calligraphy. She had her own cake decorating business as well. She loved making cakes not only for family and friends but for clients as well. She and Dad also had a craft store in Gimli, which Mom loved.
Mom loved her family and would spend hours on the phone with family and friends updating them on her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also loved her dogs. Her baby was Oreo, he was Mom's shadow and both Mom and Mad were devastated when he passed away in December 2018. Mom was never the same after that.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, and her grandson. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, Rob, Lisa (Scott), Jodi and David, as well as nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, brother, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews and beloved friend.
Carolyn lived her life to the fullest despite having Type 1 Diabetes. She never let that slow her down. Even with all the health issues that came along with it Mom never complained. She spent her final days with her daughter and husband by her side and said her final good-byes on February 29. Mom went to sleep with Dad at her side for the last time. Mom passed through the gates of heaven at 8:25 a.m. on March 1, 2020.
Cremation and a Celebration of Life took place on March 14. A private family burial will take place in the summer.
A big thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Gimli Regional Health Centre and Health Sciences Centre for all their care during Mom's final days.
