It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Dad and Grampa, Sveini Anderson, who passed away peacefully on April 26, 2020, with his children by his side.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lori (Bob), Sherri (Gord), Jeff (Kim); grandchildren, Robyn, Evan, Michael (Courtney), Tyler (Tory), Brittany, Lars-Erik, Dawson and Easton. He will also be lovingly missed by his sisters, Solla and Elsie and numerous family members and friends.
Sveini was predeceased by his wife Marlene. Sveini was born on June 15, 1935 in Riverton, MB. He attended school in both Riverton and Hnausa. In 1958, Sveini married Marlene and they created a loving home in Winnipeg, where they raised three children. He was a hard worker and worked many years as a crane operator. Dad was gentle and caring with a strong connection and love for his family. He was proud of his Icelandic heritage and enjoyed gathering with his family at Magnusville, where the coffee pot was always on and everyone was welcome. He spent many hours on a tractor happily cutting grass anywhere he could find it. He had a special love for all dogs and enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to watch them in their sports and accomplishments. You could always count on him to offer a helping hand. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for taking such good care of Dad this past year. Their support was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dad's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Magnusville Heritage Site, c/o Noventis Credit Union, 51 Main Street SW, Riverton, MB R0C 2R0 or to a charity of your choice.

  • Sveini will be missed. He was our adopted Dad when we bought into the Magnusville lake neighbourhood. He was always there to offer us good counsel on the workings of our lake house. We will miss his laugh! Rest In Peace good friend. - Posted by: Stephane and Beverly Guindon (Friends) on: May 11, 2020

  • Darrell and I are both so sorry for your loss. Both your mom and dad were beautiful people and I believe they are happily together again. Sveini worked with Darrell and they quickly became friends. Darrell always says that Sveini taught him a lot. Sveini was a smart and wonderful person and one hell of a crane operator! One of the best!! Our whole family feel his loss but we will always cherish the memories and keep the Sveini Crane stories going forever. Darrell never remembered our anniversary but somehow Sveini always did and would surprise me with flowers. We love you Sveini ❤️ - Posted by: Darrell and Deborah Schmuland (Friends ) on: May 02, 2020

  • Uncle was a true treasure. You could always count on his warm smile and welcoming personnality. He would help you at the drop of a hat without being asked, offer encouraging advice even if you didn't want it and given the chance his humor would make laugh till you cried. I will miss my uncle.
