DEBRA LEDOUX
(nee GREENING)
August 21, 1957 - April 20, 2020
Debbie was predeceased by infant daughter Tristyn, father Ralph Greening; grandparents, Fred and Rose Augustowich and Adolphe and Blondina Greening; in-laws, Julie and Frank Ledoux; uncles, John and Paul Augustowich; aunt Sheila Augustowich and cousin John Augustowich.
Left to cherish her memory forever are her loving husband Bob; children, Jaylene (Joel Foglin), Cory (Sarah Bowles), Robyn (Eric Mourre); grandchildren, Austin Jellison, Hannah Jellison (Nate Meeks), Sophie Ledoux; great-grandson Red Meeks. As well, mourning Debbie's loss are mother Kathy Greening; brothers, Barry and Blake Greening; sister-in-law Denise (Brian) Murphy; brother-in-law Gary (Karin) Ledoux; and sister-in-law Gloria (Campbell) Yates,; uncle Lawrence and aunt Elizabeth Augustowich, Aunt Rose Milko; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Debbie was born in Winnipeg and grew up on Home Street, spending many happy days playing with her "West End" friends. Deb cherished the time spent during summers with her beloved Baba, Rose Augustowich, in Winnipegosis. Baba taught Deb how to garden and nurtured her love of flowers and animals.
The Greening family made the move to St. James in 1970 and Deb went to high school at St. James Collegiate where she played numerous sports and was a dedicated and superb long-distance runner. Deb spoke fondly of Greening family fishing trips, the trip to California and Disneyland in the old Winnebago, and camping and swimming at Twin Lakes Beach.
Debbie started her working career in Churchill which always held a special place in her heart. She had a long, diverse and rewarding career in the Federal Public Service in numerous departments. Deb was always an advocate for her staff, mentoring them and helping them to advance in their careers.
Deb and Bob met at Canada Customs, began their 41-year love affair and were married in 1981. They moved to Charleswood and had a memorable seven years there, raising three young children. The family moved to Whyte Ridge in 1987 and life continued to be beautifully chaotic. Somehow Deb always had the family schedule completely organized and running smoothly; she even found time to sew dance outfits for the girls and organize epic children's birthday parties.
Family life in summer revolved around weekends and holidays spent at family cabins, at both Grand Beach and Twin Lakes. There are so many wonderful memories of the long summer days spent at the beach, evening fires and sunsets, going to bingo with Grandma Ledoux and Twin Lakes September long weekend block parties. Deb was the leader of the Ledoux beach culture and her children and grandchildren have all inherited her love of sand and surf.
Deb and the family had many adventurous and memorable trips, including Hecla, Clear Lake, Banff, Lake Louise, Black Hills, Barbados, numerous trips to Disney World (including one with the grandkids), Bali with Robyn, business trips with Cory and Sarah, and backpacking trips on the West Coast Trail in BC.
Deb and Bob continued with their love of adventure as they embarked on Caribbean cruises, numerous trips to Florida, a wonderful Bahamas vacation and multiple trips to the Hawaiian Islands. The highlight was two months spent in Europe in the summer of 2016 which Deb called "truly a trip of a lifetime".
Deb had many passions and interests besides family and travel. She was known for her infectious smile, selfless nature, kind-hearted manner and incredibly outgoing spirit. Debbie absolutely loved to socialize, dance up a storm and tailgate at Bomber games; she was always the life of the party. She was an amazing cook and hostess at gatherings for family and friends, a world-class gardener, avid reader, crafter and an entrepreneur. She loved playing music, loved all animals and truly thrived as a volunteer at the Winnipeg Zoo. Debbie really became engaged in environmental causes, passing on her knowledge, wisdom and passion for the natural world to her family.
Debbie lived for her family and raised her children to know the important things in life: to be fair, compassionate, empathetic, forgiving, adventurous, and to love unconditionally. She spent a lot of quality time with granddaughter Sophie and created a remarkable bond for the short time they had together. Debbie got to meet great-grandson Red and of course went into full Baba mode, cuddling him and making him giggle. She always did have a magic touch around children and they truly brought her such joy and fulfillment.
Deb, you have left us an incredible loving
legacy. You had this rare inner spark and
light around you that not many people
possess. We will remember the life lessons
you taught us, your strength, spirituality and
your absolute joy of life. You told us recently
to "Stay Strong" and we promise we will.
We will always "love you to the moon and back", but now it is time for you to rest and take daughter Tristyn by the hand and teach her how to create a truly magnificent garden. May we all meet again on a beautiful
beach where sunsets last forever.
According to Debbie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the Pandemic, a private Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
In memory of Deb, please consider planting a tree, flowers or a garden, or supporting a cause that is dedicated to saving this planet for future generations.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mrs Ledoux’s passing. I spent many years in their family home in whyte ridge. Mrs Ledoux always left chores for the kids while she was at work during the summer and I remember she signed the notes “love mommy” even when jay was 14 but C and R were still young so it was super cute. Still makes me smile. Mrs Ledoux was a good mom and loved her family more than anything. Sending lots of love to all the family. - Posted by: Kenzie prudhomme (Childhood friend of daughter Jaylene) on: Mar 02, 2021
