Christel was born in Berlin, Germany on November 3, 1932. She became a Canadian citizen in 1962 after coming to Winnipeg to marry Peter Czayka.
Christel leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Peter, of 63 years. Her son Raymond (Lori), son Brian (Susan), son Derrick (Shelley), daughter Cheryl (Ryan). Her grandchildren, Gudrun, Elin, Kristjan, Robyn, Taylor, Mitchell, Sean, Serena, Scott, Jessica and Jordan. Her great-grandchildren, Jessah and Jemma. Along with Brigitte and Winifred and their families.
Christel enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving Mom and Oma, who enjoyed knitting, reading, crosswords, and playing board games.
Christel enjoyed travelling with Peter on many different adventures.
She was a longtime member of the Chefs du Cuisine ladies auxiliary, and also volunteered countless hours for CancerCare Manitoba in her retirement.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation we are going to have a service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Christel's name may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
