Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Dear Joan, I am so sorry about your loving husband Bert passing. I admired Bert very much. Besides being a great father to Brian and Darryl he was a gentle, kind, generous and caring person. He was always interested in people and willing to help others whether it was fixing cars or providing wisdom or great advice on a variety of topics. I developed a long lasting and amazing friendship with Bert and his family after I became friends with Brian at St Paul’s High School. Bert and his family are very special to me as I lived with the Rebeiro family for a few months before I moved to Vancouver. Bert and I shared many great discussions, especially about working with Canadian Pacific Railway, travel (especially to Australia) and sports. I always loved to hear Bert’s stories of him growing up and how much he loved and appreciated his life, family and friends in Winnipeg, throughout Canada and Australia. Bert always put his passion and hard work into everything he did whether it was working at Canadian Pacific Railway, repairs or changing tires or brakes on cars, making wine, operating a vending machine business or cheering on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets. I will miss Bert dearly and will always remember his visits to our Vancouver home, travels to/from Victoria and our getting together in Winnipeg. My thoughts and prayers are with you Joan and his sister Shirley and the rest of his family and friends. Love and God Bless, Doug Biden - Posted by: Doug Biden (Friend) on: May 25, 2020

  • I met Bert and Joan for the first time when I went to help pack up the annual donation letters at the Chapter office on Erin. I was a new mom and a new Hemophilia Society member. Bert and Joan were so welcoming and we had a lovely morning packing up the letters. I got to know them over the years and I am grateful to them for helping to building the foundation for the Hemophilia Society in Manitoba. My condolences to you Joan. - Posted by: Christine Keilback (From the Hemophilia Society Family) on: May 14, 2020
