LORNE ALVIN LARTER
He was predeceased by his parents, Annie and Sam; brothers, Earl and Ron; and in-laws, Laura and Emile Saindon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cecile, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as the many nieces and nephews.
Lorne was born December 14, 1933, in Prairie Grove, Manitoba. He worked for Modern Dairies for 47 years as a mechanic and foreman. He loved to attend dances with Cecile and friends. This of course would lead to countless miles driving to and from small towns around the province in the wee hours of the morning. He loved camping and really enjoyed his time at the Great Woods Park in Beausejour, MB, where he would not only care for their own trailer, but help many others with theirs. Lorne had a kind and loving heart, a great sense of humour and could be always be counted on when needed.
He has a very special place in our hearts and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Lorne's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Dear Cecile. Words don't come easy at a time like this but because we care, we want to share with you a few personal cherished memories of Lorne, and of you both as a couple. In fellowship Lorne always took the time to say hello with a smile. Together you were a beautiful loving couple, who even while dancing wore their love for everyone to see. We have great memories of Lorne's jokes and witty sense of humor. We haven't forgotten how you and Lorne would help us get 50 chairs set out around a hall while I organized my music and Romeo made coffee or swept the floor. After dance class, you would both stay to help put the chairs away. Mostly too, we remember the many times you both accompanied a couple dozen of us dancers to entertain in seniors' homes and personal care homes. You did not only come to dance but at Christmas visits, you were Mr and Mrs Santa Claus. I remember the song "Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" and sure enough Mr and Mrs Santa did. A couple grandchildren remember that visit, watching at the window for his arrival, as well they remember the couple times Lorne, as Santa Claus, welcomed them to sit on his knees, while Mrs Santa was handed gifts from under the tree and gave them to Santa to give to the kids The younger ones were so impressed that Santa actually came to Grandma and Grandpa's house and handed them gifts. Giselle's walking doll, still wears a little sweater you knit for her daughter. Cecile, please accept our sincere sympathy at this sad time and know that you and Lorne are forever in our thoughts. - Posted by: Isabelle & Romeo Choquette (Dancing leaders & friends) on: May 18, 2020

Our hearts were saddened when we were told of Lorne’s passing. Dances will not be the same without his welcoming smile, warm hugs and his patience with my awkward dance steps. Lorne was a true gentleman, always courteous and a delightful story-teller. Dancing with him was always entertaining. Dear Cecile - we offer you our deepest sympathy on your loss and hope to be able to offer condolences in person when it is possible. Sincerely Glenn and Davilyn - Posted by: Glenn Waterman & Davilyn Eyolfson (Dancing Friends) on: May 16, 2020

It was always a pleasure to walk in the hall and the two of you would be sitting close together and greeting each one that came to say hi to the both of you. Cecile, Paul and I are so sorry to hear that this had happened to the most wonderful man I know. You both were in my heart for many years. I was so blessed to catch up with you again at the campsite. You made my day always, both of you. Lorne always had a funny joke to tell. When my Dad passed or even when he was sick for that matter, you both always made me feel better even if you didn't know it. Cecile, again, I'm so sorry. He will be so missed. If you need anything, let me know. I will pop up to the campsite one day this summer and spend some time with you. We love you. You and Lorne are forever in our hearts. You both showed the world the true meaning of pure love and I thank you for that. Love you Cecile and big hugs my friend. Our most sincere condolences to Cecile on the loss of Lorne. He was a true gentleman, good dancing partner and usually had a warm smile on his face. The greatest loss one can experience is the loss of one’s partner in life. So sorry, Cecile, for your huge loss. May you take comfort in the good memories you made with Lorne and also in the fact that he was a good and loving husband to you. You were blessed to have him in your life. Take care of yourself now and in the future. Kindest condolences, Kathy & Bill Fecio, dancing friends. - Posted by: Kathy & Bill Fecio (Dancing friends ) on: May 16, 2020
