DARRYL JOHN BARTLETTE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son and brother, Darryl Bartlette, who passed away on April 12, 2020, at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, England.
Darryl will be sadly missed by his mother Evelyn, sisters, Susan and Shirley, brother-in-law Butch, many nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends.
Darryl was predeceased by his older brother Michael, father Edgar, and brother-in-law Percy.
Born in Winnipeg, on September 30, 1963, Darryl grew up in the Fort Garry area. He attended Viscount Alexander Grade School and graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate. He enjoyed baseball and hockey but it was hockey he loved and excelled in. He spent many summer vacations, with his parents, in England, the birthplace of his mother. As a teen, he worked at the Wildwood Club cleaning the curling ice and bartending for many functions.
At the age of 20, Darryl moved to Hampshire, England and in 1988 joined Heathrow Airport. He held various positions and in 2004 was promoted to the Airport Operations Unit as Operations Controller. He continued working in the unit until the present day and on March of this year he celebrated his 32nd anniversary with Heathrow, quite an achievement - over three decades committed to working with the same company.
Darryl's love for aviation had an impact on his leisure time as well. Travelling to France, Germany, Spain, the Canary Islands, Canada (regularly) and a most notable trip to New York in 2002. As a surprise for his father's 80th birthday, Darryl and Edgar flew from Heathrow to New York. The gift included visits to "Ground Zero" and an excursion to Boston before the highlight of flying back to London on the famed "Concord". A trip neither of them would ever forget.
Darryl was a kind and loving soul and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
A service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in Basingstoke, England with a private interment at a later date.
