NORMAN MICHAEL GORMAN
July 16, 1965 - May 9, 2020
He is survived by his mother Diane Gorman; his sisters, Lorelei Buffington (Wyatt) of Sidney, Vancouver Island and Dianna Calvin (David) of Hazenmore, Saskatchewan; nephew Ryan (Amanda) of Winnipeg, and niece Rachel (Dallas) of Garson, Manitoba. He is also survived by his uncle Bob Stalker (Joann), cousins, Jason Stalker (Tracy), Jeff Stalker (Cris), Joanne Norris (Michael) and their families.
Michael was born in Tacoma, Washington and moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1968. He lived in East Kildonan and attended Lord Wolseley, John Henderson and Miles Macdonell Collegiate. As a student Michael was an active participant in Junior Achievement, YBC Bowling at Rossmere Lanes and Cubs Canada.
Upon graduation from high school Mike worked for the River East Transcona School Division for one year and at the City of Winnipeg in the maintenance department for 21 years. After he retired from the City of Winnipeg he worked at numerous casual jobs settling in at The Royal George Hotel in Transcona where he worked for many years. Michael made lasting friendships with both staff and customers at the hotel. He enjoyed his work and had a good working relationship with the owner Greg.
Mike was very close to his mother. On his cell phone contact list she was identified as "The Boss". He was a generous and kind person who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
If friends so desire they could make a contribution to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of their choice.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation we will be having a private family burial.

We were very saddened at the sudden loss of our cousin Mike. Mike always loved to share stories and spoke with conviction. He always spoke very highly of his mother Diane and was appreciative of their relationship. When Mike was young, he often looked to his Grandfather Robert and his Uncle Bob for advice (not that he would always take it :). Mike was great at saying goodbyes - he always told his Mom that he loved her and he always had friendly goodbyes for me. Mike was a good friend, we had many great times together. He loved the back yard smoker and bbq at our house. Mom and dad loved the many good times with Mike. We will miss him very much. My deepest condolences to Mike's wonderful mom, Doris, and his family. Mike easily became my friend when I moved back to the city and started going to The Royal George, where we always knew that the harder we teased each other, the more we truly cared about the other. I have the pleasure of getting to know his mom, and we'd always sit together when Mike would bring her in on Sundays. I had just spent some time with him the week that he passed, and it's still so very hard to know that I won't be seeing him again. Wishing his family strength and love during such a difficult time. R.I.P. my friend.... some day we'll see each other again, so the first round is on you! XOXO - Posted by: Joy Block (Friend) on: May 17, 2020

Met Mikey back in 1983 and have remained in contact ever since. I used to call him "Richard" and he always responded to me and I only found out three years ago, when he told me that his name was actually Michael...Hahahhaa we had a GREAT laugh. I had just seen him and gave him a ride. We had a great conversation, laughs and he met my Son Tyler for the first time as we were over checking out the bunnies Nest in his yard......... RIP Warrior..................... - Posted by: Steven Hanks (Miracle Health Network) (Associate) on: May 17, 2020
