JAMES (JIM) HENRY PAGE JR.
Predeceased by his parents, James Henry and Sigga Page, sister Jonina Hucul, husband Peter and daughter Diane; brother Roy and wife Soley and their daughter Barbara; sister Dorothy and her husband Wally Eyolfson; brother-in-law James Morrison; brother Gordon and his daughter Shelley, and sister-in-law Jo Page. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Joyce, his daughter Marlene Ward and her sons, Tyler Henry Page and Richard James Webster; his son James Henry Page III and his wife Rothelle and her son Brett; sister Irene Morrison; brother Arnold, and sister-in-law Lil Page; as well as many relatives and friends.
Jim spent his working years in the fishing industry in Manitoba and retired to British Columbia in 1987. Jim started his lifetime career at the age of 12, nailing fish boxes at Georges Island, then graduated to shore hand with Gunner Thomasson for the next four years. He moved to Warrens Landing and became the manager for the next 33 years, until the Fish Marketing Board took over. Jim was a hardworking no-nonsense man, who was said to have nine lives. He survived a plane crash and walked 17 miles to safety in -25F weather; his boat loaded with oil drums exploded at midnight on Lake Winnipeg, (he was rescued from his lifeboat, by his company's freighter - The Lady Canadian). He lived in fishing camps with mud floors and tin heaters, slept on mattresses made of fish nets during -50F degree weather, ate frozen potatoes, and walked 45 miles to make it home for Christmas. He survived many threatening adventures travelling in early spring, plowing through ice jams in May and returning home in heavy snowstorms in the fall. Jim never complained. He was never late for anything and loved a serious game of cribbage. He loved treating his family to buckets of KFC. He was generous to a fault and was always available to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was a good provider, loved dogs, cats and little children and generously shelled out at Christmas. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family, and all who knew him.
He was laid to rest at a graveside service with immediate family attending at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surrey, BC. Reverend Peter Kok officiated.
Thanks to Piper Jack McLeod, who played "Going Home" for Jim's final journey.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer Society, or the charity of your choice.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family. My father worked at Neptune’s for years. Jim was always a friend at the house growing up. He was always so friendly and yes always bought a bucket of KFC around. He was very dear to our family - us kids used to call him uncle Jim. Again I’m sorry for your loss. By the way my father's name was Thorie Smith - Posted by: Penny Folster (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2020

We have many loving thoughts of Uncle Jim and Auntie Joyce. Some of the best memories I have as a child were the large family gatherings where Uncle Jim would hold court. He was a great story teller and a generous and loving uncle. Our condolences to Auntie Joyce, Jim, Marlene and family. - Posted by: Gord and Judy Morrison (Nephew ) on: May 29, 2020

Sending our condolences to Aunt Joyce, Marlene & family & Jim & family. This is such a sad and difficult time for anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Uncle Jim. He really had the best heartfelt laugh and a gentle person to talk to. Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease....we know he’s in heaven making everyone laugh and hopefully there’s lots of candy in heaven because we’ve heard he has a sweet tooth. Instead of Marlene bringing him candy it will be the angels 👼 Our prayers are with the family and we are thinking of you all.
